Wewa is not a Sinhala word it is the Tamil word Wavi = Lake.
The Sinhalese borrowed it and as usual modified it.
MAnthota is a old name and it is Sinhala.
So, MAn - WEWA may be. Probably it had a wewa in that area.
Manthottam is an ancient Tamil word. Deer Park or Mango garden.

Colombo was abuzz yesterday with speculation as whether Treasury Secretary Dr. P.B. Jayasundera will resign, following the sensational ruling by the Supreme Court on Monday over the way he conducted himself as the then Chairman of Public Enterprise Reforms Commission (PERC) with regard to the privatisation of Lanka Marine Services.
In response to a fundamental rights violation appeal by Vasudewa Nanayakkara the Supreme Court issued a strongly worded judgement in addition to ordering Dr. Jayasundera to pay Rs. 500,000 to the State as compensation for wrongful acts in his capacity as PERC Chairman. JKH which was the sole and successful bidder for LMS was ordered to pay Rs. 250,000 as costs to petitioner Nanayakkara. |

The word Puram is an ancient Tamil word and extensively used in Tamil Nadu for towns and cities. The City of Kanchipuram is much older than Anuradhpuram.
There is enough evidence of Tamil Character in the city of Anuradhapuram. In order to understand that, you have to accept the fact that the Sinhala as a race is not a pure race. It is the fusion of whoever landed on the Sri Lankan shore.
The Sinhala race borrowed everything from other people mainly from Tamils because we were already here long before the Sinhala identity evolve in the island of Eelam.
I think us both Tamils and Sinhalese are the descendants of the ancient people who lived and built the city of Anuradhapuram. I don't think Anula or the ancient Sinhala kings were Sinhalese in the present sense.

Kancheepuram is one of the Famous Mutt all over World.
INfact i think it is one of the four mutt that propagate Hindu religion all over India. Adi Sankaracharya was the one who formed this Mutt & even today it is world famous.
It was becoz of this mutts that Buddhism , Jainism was thrown out of India even though they originated here & Hinduism flourished in india.

The whole world knows how many countless tamils are killed & sinhalese are killed by state terrorists.
Even yesterday you have killed a govt agent by DPU.
Since there are bus & train blasts by Ellalan force which you cant handle , you have started to kill single individual vehicle riding young tamil men.
I wish Ellalan Force retatiate the same way. |

which way am i supposed to take this...are the south Indians themselves not interested in protecting the ltte...
i mean they could have bargained like hell if they so wished for the ltte in this issue... |

Are you nuts? The Sinhalese discriminated the Tamils. All the Tamil leaders wanted to build a secular, western style democracy with freedom and equality for all.
I heard even SWRD Bandaranayake suggested federalism for the North - East but the Tamil leaders rejected it. They wanted to have one united country for all. The Kandiyan Sinhalese wanted the federalism, so they can safe guard their culture and traditions from the westernized Christian coatal Sinhalese but the Tamil didn't want that either.
Who made the patriotic Eelam Tamils to ask for partition of Sri Lanka? The Sinhala racists must take the blame for that.
