Are you travelling all over the World on Sorry Lankan Airlines ?
Sri Lanka s main opposition UNP yesterday charged that since the SriLankan Airline was taken over from the Emirates on April 1, the national carrier had incurred a loss of 5.7 billion rupees.
UNP MP Ravi Karunanayaka said that there was 14 billion rupees cash reserves when the company was handed over to the government by the Emirates.
Our national carrier was cash rich but asset less when it was taken over from the Emirates, he said.
He also said that most other national carriers in the world such as Singapore Airlines, Emirates and Thai Airways had recorded profits even exceeding their budgeted expectations, but SriLankan had incurred heavy losses.
An immediate action should be taken to resurrect the airline by posting competent persons to the management, he said.
