Thalai,
there are different types. there are 120mm mortar guns that are vehicle mounted and moved (with two wheels). and the Mortar can be broken down to pieces and carried by men too.
did they show the captured 120mm motar gun on any pro gov web?
(just to see how it look like) |

if army want this kind of strategy they need huge no of men. it is only possible if army withdraws from east and redeployed in north.
162,000 at last count
Thalaivar - get a map of Sri Lanka out - I recommend
http://krilov.net/article/srilanka/map.jpg
draw a line from Illupakadavai to Vavunakulam to Omantai to and then the 59th division line to kokkaduvai.
Consider the fact that mulluthiv is all jungle - and they have good cover all the way up
Consider the fact that all the jaffan front divisions have to do is keep the LTTE occupied there - who MOST DEFINITELY can NOT RISK, pulling out their cardres there......
Consider the fact Vidalthivu is good base for deploying sea borne troops now, and the fact illupakkadavai is a good buffer
and what do you get?
You don't have to be a military genius to consider what is happening here.
There is only one little chance I can see for the LTTE, not that I am going to spell it out on this forum..... -))
if capturing and holding land is not the strategy of the army then they can use army deployed in east to north operation.
will they take that risk?
The better questio to ask is if the LTTE will take the risk to pull cadres from Muhumale and Nagarkovil, thereby exposing killinochi
the writing is on the wall. |

This person is living completly in a dream world...and not facing to the reality..
Astro,
What kind of reality you are talking about. Remember, so far NO direct battle has been won by the SLDF. In the east they walked in like dogs in an empty house, after the LTTE withdrew all their heavy weapons and cadres.
The same thing happened in Vidathal theevu. More than 200 LTTE cadres successfully reached Vanni with their heavy weapons. You should wait for the direct battle before declaring victory.
Although the LTTE have used the conventional method but they are not a conventional army. The LTTE will change their method of attack depending on the circumstances.

So what are you trying to prove here? LTTE is advancing? So what's the good in 200 carders successfully returned to Vanni? Do you thinking it is good? |

East has never been a strong hold of ltte for a conventional war and they wanted to limit the civilian casualty in heavily populated Jaffna. |

HunchBack,
What is the basis for your brilliant analysis? :)) As long as your source is defense Lanka, we Tamils don't need to worry about your fantastic blabbering. The defense Lanka is known to lie and exaggerate things.
Why don't you ask your government to allow the independent journalists to verify the so called victories?
Even Milosevic let the Bosnian war to be covered by the CNN, BBC and all other news agencies. Are you saying Mahinda is a worst war criminal than Milosevic?
