We Tamils are not a bunch of greedy aggressors like the Sinhalese. We don t want to occupy your homes, fields and villages. We are ready to let you live in the areas where the Sinhalese are majority now. That's why we identify our areas as Tamil Eelam.

The question is 'what is the meaning of EElam' not the Tamil Eelam...

Tamil is a rich language. There are so many words to describe one word in Tamil. In the classical Sangam diction Eelam means Gold or Elephant. The ancient Tamils considered the Elephant as the symbol of wealth.
It means Tamil Eelam is precious as gold to the Tamils, they will die to defend it.

SLA seems to be doing the surveying of the areas at the moment. Once it's all surveyed we'll know for sure where this area is (was or will be).
