I am not saying all conditions are 1oo% similar to that.so far army has captured coastal areas mostly. army has not yet reached heart of vanni . then onle ltte will make an attempt to encircle army cutting off in different points use their indirect fire heavily and that and do their final mob up operation.
This is what SLA exactly looking for. LTTE does not have enough force ratio to meet SLA in wanni. If they want to attack SLA in wanni FDL, then they have to withdraw some fighters from Killai-Muhammalei-Nagakovil FDL. This will open an opportunity for 12000 reserve SLA soldiers in Jaffna to overrun Jaffna FDL and march to wards Kilinochchi via Elephant Pass. |

Like i said before, show me proof where any army officer has said there is a particular DEADLINE of Aug 2008.
try and answer this question without running off like TigerFart.
At the beginning of the year, in an interview with the state-run Sunday Observer, Fonseka said the LTTE had 3,000 fighters and pledged that the military could defeat them by mid-2008.
But in the interview published Sunday, he increased his estimate of rebel strength to 5,000 combatants, citing new intelligence reports.
On the ground, the military on Sunday defused a powerful bomb found by an off-duty sailor in a crowded area of the north-central town of Anuradhapura, officials said.

for the investment ltte make for this offensive they will expect a reasonable return in the form of arms and amno from sla including artilleries,MBRLs and battle tanks.
This will not happen again since SLA men are properly trained to defend and DPU units cover all roads properly. Besides, SLA has completely flanked along western coast and all heavy equipment are kept at least 10 km inside present FDLs. So even in case of LTTE breach, which is very unlikely, they have enough time to defendand if necessary move those heavy equipment away.

that is why ltte did not attempt to attack in coastal areas .ltte wants sla come to the heart of vanni with heavy weapons then only it will be easy for ltte to capture most of them. |

There is no need to move heavy equipment inland. Most of the artilleries have a good range over 20 miles. So they can be fired from western coastal areas to Wanni heartland to help support infantry men. |
