'We are nowhere near a solution than we ever were, he said, adding that the present government does not seem interested in a negotiated settlement.

People who have common sense will understand & agree this.

Again, you have jumped in to a conclusion that militarily defeating LTTE tantamount to imposing a Sinhalese buddhist hegemonic rule over Tamils.

To us who have suffered untold misery in the hands of LTTE, defeating it (military or otherwise) means defeating terrorism...its as simple as that.

If you fail to understand this simple fact, and instead keep hallucinating on this non-existent religious hegemony then there's nothing much more I can say.

all successive govts have tried and failed in their attempts to defeat ltte militarily. and we know all seccessive govts came for talks with ltte after realising that ltte cannot be defeated militarily and only option available is political solution through negotiation. when ever a new govt and leader came to power they first tried military option and after the failure they came for talks with ltte. now MR is doing his turn.

This is similar to us calling all Tamils as terrorists. Simple as that.

No logic in the above statement.

But we can call all Sinhalese are racist, it is simple as well.

Words are simple. But thoughtless words can cause more damage than first realised. Think before you write.

Sinthaka,

Short and sweet, you are trying to defeat terrorism with terrorism. You talk about that you suffered at the hands of LTTE! wow. Do you have any idea what the Tamils have been going though at the hands of the Sinhala regimes?

It may be simple to you as you appear to be directly unconnected with the war efforts, but it is not simple for those are at the front line!

If you fail to understand this simple fact, and instead keep hallucinating on this non-existent religious hegemony then there's nothing much more I can say.

Well, may be this is your way of covering the ills of the Sinhala society! Who are those hardliners that Haraja was talking about? Any idea? Who was responsible for bastardizing the Constitution?

Please do not think that I was born yesterday
