Looks like the Dream of TN , Sethu canal is going to get a smooth Sailing with the backing of Manmohan & Kalaignar who is expected to win this evening the VOte of confidence by thumping margin !

The Supreme Court on Tuesday refused to adjourn the hearing on the Sethusamudram project on the ground that the Government was seeking trust vote in the Parliament.

'How are we concerned with the trust motion. This court is only concerned with judicial matters,' a Bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan said while declining the plea of anti-project petitioner to wait and see the outcome of trust motion and defer the hearing for three weeks.

'So many things are happening in this country but we are only concerned with this case,' the Bench also comprising Justice R V Raveendran and J M Panchal said.

SLA rejects the ceasefire, so they have to accept all fire works in the future.

VP should show no mercy now! This is a great diplomactic coup for VP. Just one round by a single TAF on SAARC venue will do the job!

EEE Bro,

Mahinda was trying to show that he is in control of COlombo & conducted Saarc meeting in spite of tigers.

By announcing 'Ceasifire' only for Saarc , tigers have got a diplomatic coup against GOSL & moreover they are on the good books of India who now has to worry only abt the singlecelled sailors who may throw in rifle @ indian PM.

Government rejects LTTE s unilateral ceasefire offer
Tue, 2008-07-22 14:45

Asian Tribune Sri Lanka Bureau

Colombo, 22 July, (Asiantribune.com): Sri Lanka Government rejected unilateral ceasefire offer by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, the separatist Tamil Tiger outfit.

Responding to an oral question raised by Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa, in the floor of Sri Lanka parliament today, Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama said the government does not response to this offer. He said a number of local and international allies try to stop operations against the rebels.

'At present government is defeating the terrorists .We never stop these operations,' he said.

A rebel statement said the Tigers would refrain from military action during the 15th South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) conference but warned they would be forced to take 'defensive action' if the island's military carried out any offensives against them.

The government sources further said, it had not received an official ceasefire notification from the rebels and expressed wariness about the move.

Meanwhile the head of the government peace secretariat, Rajiva Wijesinghe, said the government needs time to carefully consider the LTTE call for a ceasefire during the SAARC summit and will wait till it is officially communicated.
