Most definitely somewhere in that region and promote the game in the East. Such a shame, we could have had some good players coming from the North and East, now that the game has really opened up and taboos broken.
Yes!
It is always true. Criket is the better choice than football to bring communities closer. In most cases, football matches end with clash between the teams and supporters. whereas, there are very few incidents in cricket.
There are good criketers during schooling time in the North East. But, later they are missing in the criket field due to their priority and/ or less opportunities they get to play for any clubs unless they move to Colombo! |

Sintha,
Imagine having a stadium adjoining the passikudah beach. WOW!
When the cheerleaders are having their swim, what will you be doing?...lol
From cricinfo...
1:38 pm The next inspection will be at 2.30 pm. More wait ahead of us.
Sampath from Saudi Arabia sends us this gem: 'Why not play cricket when it is raining? Change few rules and you can do it. I can suggest few 1. Players should be in swim suits 2. Ball should be 'ottapala ball' 3. Who ever gets electrocuted by lightning will be banned for two matches 4. Soap is allowed in the field 5. Hot soup will be served in drink breaks.. ' Wonder what is that ottapala ball. And will there be cheerleaders swimming near the boundary?
George clears the doubt: 'Buddy, that ottapala ball means, a ball made of waste rubber taken from while tapping rubber trees.' |

You got the basic idea when I suggested a stadium adjoining a beach (wink). :)))))
Seriously, imagine having a stadium in a stunning place like Passikudah, Nilaweli. That will pour in the tourists!
Mahadev,
Yeah, its in such a bad state. I've been there and all you could see were ruins of hotels. I hope things will get moving soon.

Mahadev,
During the ceasefire period, a few coaches went up north and handpicked a few guys and brought them to Colombo and started coaching them. Lalith deSWijeratne (one of the coaches) told me at the time that there were a couple of good fast bowlers. But unfortunately they did not develop enough for the big league. This was put down to various other problems such as lack of emotional support. One of the guy's father used to come once a month, but most of the time they were living with foster families. |

Air Force spokesman Wing Commander Janaka Nanayakkara speaking to defence.lk said that 22 LTTE suicide bombers (Black Tigers ) were killed in the air raid carried out this morning (July 22) at the Uddayarkattukulam LTTE camp.
Citing Air Force intelligence sources , he said that the group of the slain LTTE cadres had been engaged in a rehearsal of a major suicide operation at the time of the air raid.
Air Force fighter jets launched an air strike targeting pre identified LTTE special operation training facility located Northeast of Uddayarkattukulam in the Mullaittiuvu district around 8.15a.m.
The Air Force sources said, targeted camp was providing training for LTTE cadres in special operations and in leadership for the terror leaders. Activities in the terror camp had a significant increase recently, the sources added. |
