So, allocation for a district like Jaffna is only 2.3%
Use the same calculator
Tell me what would be the allocation for a pure sinhala District like Galle
2% isnit
Less than Jaffna
But your Calulation is wrong as the allocation is based on the population in every district

EEelamaya bro,
What I wanted to point out was this...
16 educationally disadvantaged districts
It doesnt say these districts are tamil, muslim, sinhala etc...
and they dont give a damn about ethnicity if you get the required marks..and fall into criteria..
:):)))
PS: its a pity now Jaffna also falls under this category..

It is indeed really Sad!! I think it was Mrs Hajara who said how high was the % of Jaffna students when she was in Uni specially for Law if i have not mistaken in the 60's.
It is very unfortunate but a fact that Jaffna falls under the category. The obvious reason is the 'WAR' and it is not easy to concentrate on Education
The bottom line, it is Sri Lanka which will be losing as a whole..

Why not just privatize education like in the west. This will allow private institutions to invest in SL and train to meet the country's and international demands. We will not have so many unemployed graduates and unions dictating.
I am sure many will be thinking about the money issues. Remember everyone in the west are not rich and there are ways of getting around money issues. |

There are International private schools which is really expensive and not all intelligent students can afford it and also it prepares you to go to Uni's abroad not in SL.
There are other private schools too..in Jaffna, SJC is a private school and charges reasonable donations for entering the college.
a Lot of money is collected from the past students..I am sure there are private schools in Col
Isn't schools like Royal/St Thomas's are private schools? |
