How many soldiers were killed before 1958 riots?

those days, Velu's relatives were good smugglers.

VVT houses had inbuilt jetties to get the smuggled goods to the home itself.

So, they kill coast -guard soldiers and hide the bodies in the sand.

Violence is in tamil - genes. 6000 years of civlization can not over ride the effects of genetics.

the correct question is how many car license plates were tarred.

If someone had tarred my car, whether they were Tamil or Sinhala or Muslim is irrelevant. They would have been lucky to be killed if anyone had touched my car.

Revy,
Hmm so why was the government's 'friend' Piliyan unable to get this extremely good deal for Tamils in the east?

Tamils in East will get it. They will get a peaceful environment to bring up their children and once the country starts reaping the benefits of peace, East will get their share.

Are the Tamils of Sampoor enjoying this good deal as their homes and lands are simply stolen from them by Sinhala goons?

Many of these problems will be solved once we have normalcy. Remember SL courts still function in a reasonable manner.

What makes you think the Sinhalese will give us ANYTHING, if they were so generous there would have been no LTTE in the first plce..go out and buy yourself a clue mate.

This is a good question. But think about it. Sinhalese politians can never rule without minority support. This is common in any country - even in the USA. Sometimes minorities appears to have more bargaining power in a democracy. Sinhalese have to give.

we also need to be logical here. you can not get more than they have. As long as sri lanka is falling in to powerty, Tamils will feel it. But the ignored fact is even Sinhalese face the SAME type of oppression from the Rich & Powerful withing sinhalese areas. I have been to a couple of villeges in the south and seen this with my own eyes.
Just go to east. Look at those poor people. Can you tell the difference between sinhalese, tamil or even muslim (apart from their dress-code) ?

If Prabakaran agrees to stop terrorism, then this country can prosper in the current high-tech world, and Tamils will benefit. There is no other way.

Since 1910, Tamils did not involve in developing Sri Lanka.

Since 1970s Tamils Destroy Sri Lanka.

They want everything to be hunky-dory.

SLA launches large scale cordon, search in Thenmaraadchi

Sri Lanka Army (SLA) launched a large scale cordon and search operation from Tuesday morning till evening covering areas west of A9 Jaffna-Kandy road blocking all the roads leading to the main road, local residents said. Residents were not allowed to leave their homes during the search.

Kerudaavil, Manthuvil, Kodikaamam, Meesaalai, Changaththaanay and Va r a ni areas between Chaavakachcheari and Kodikaamam were the places where the SLA cordon and search took place.

The roads leading to Jaffna-Kandy road were all blocked using large logs and stones.

School children and government officers were allowed to use a few chosen roads.

People in large numbers trying to use these selected roads were subjected to rigorous checking and kept waiting for hours before they were allowed to proceed.

No information is available of anyone arrested in the search this morning.

A similar SLA cordon and search was launched Monday on the eastern side of the A9 Jaffna-Kandy road covering areas from Chaavakachcheari town up to Kodikaamam.

Intensive cordon and search operations were launched Saturday and Sunday in these areas following the killing of two SLA soldiers Friday in Thenmaraadchi.

On Friday unidentified armed men shot dead two SLA soldiers in two separate attacks in Madaththadi and Vempiraay residential areas in Chaavakachcheari in Thenmaraadchi around 7:00 p.m and 7:30 p.m.
