A police constable deployed at a checkpoint at Iranawila who had crept into a neigbouring house and molested a woman occupant was arrested by the Puttalam Police yesterday (21). The constable was interdicted following the incident.
Puttalam police said the constable was arrested immediately after a complaint by the woman and was found drunk at the time.
In the last few weeks a number of errant police officers and policemen were arrested. One was the case of a police inspector who was returning with venison after a hunt in a wild life sanctuary. The other was of a Sub Inspector of Police who had gone out of his police area to arrest a treasure hunter. He was arrested with a large amount of cash he is alleged to have taken from a suspect.
Another case reported recently was an alleged rape by another Inspector of Police of a teenage girl who had gone to the police station to complain that she had been raped.

| Corrupted officers should be punished regardless of their rank. Sri Lanka police still is not totally corrupt. It is just the one percent of the bad apples that gives everybody a bad name. |

Drunk & disorderly cop's b.lls to be castr.ted????
The senior at the check point must be deciplined for entertaining a intoxicated cop at the check point.
Lack of supervision, permitting the desertion of post,
causing a hindrance to national security.
With such incidents, police need to decipline the culprit and the supervision officer as well.
It will speak well for the future.

Traffic Sergent are the worst. Anybody can get away by bribing about thousand rupees in many minor traffic offenses.
Recently a actress had been kidnapped by a minister of Parliament! Many ministers were involved in bribing intermediating , harassing etc. Leaders have to set an example to their followers at first.
Any case these offenses are part of human nature. These type of crimes many do due to sudden temptations. Many of us do not commit crime because of the fear of getting caught. Unless impotent many are probable candidates for the said offense.
One day I met well known scholar, lecturer, disciplinarians at one night in Soho, London visiting brothel.!

The police, army and EPDP rob houses and molest women in Jaffna but not a single perpetrator is apprehended yet. |

| This is a good lesson for other corps as well. When they are in uniform some idiots think they can do any thing and they are the law enforcement body. |

| This is the difference between a statesman & a politician, when they rule a country.a politician will always think of his personal gains & not about the country.for the last couple of years Srilanka facing the problem of not having a statesman to guide the nation.not implementation of the 17 th amandment to the constitution also led to the violation of the basic rights of the citizens of the country. |
