At the same time if the occupying Sinhala forces, disrespecting our goodwill gesture of our people and our nation, carry out any offensives, our movement will be forced to take defensive actions.

this was the same in 2001 when ltte announced a cesefire /sla attacked at muhamalai and more than 500 were killed and 1000 injured.

[in sla not interested please continue attacking but consequences will be diasasterous]

[i personally will like sla to continue and get smashed up /

see an indian hand behind this cease fire.

so this means that the SLA have not carried out any offensives thus far because if we had, 'our movement' would have taken 'defensive actions'.

LOL, dishonourably discharged ex-PC, nadesan is issuing idle threats.

the mighty LTTP are drooping and flopping like a rotting garden weed.

Tiger Force,

Only if there is war, Sorrylanka will beg from China & Pakistan arms & their influence will be more .

Incase tigers come for Ceasefire, then GOSL cant ignore it altogether thereby keepng china & Pak at bay.

May be there is some underground deal between india & tigers

'Unfolding events will show LTTE's military strength'
Sunday Leader
-
Jul 19, 2008 22:56:16 GMT

P. Nadesan
The LTTE claims the government is carrying out false propaganda on the war effort to mislead the Sinhala people and that unfolding events will clearly illustrate the Tigers' military strength. In an email interview with The Sunday Leader, LTTE Political Wing Leader P. Nadesan said the Tamil people are concerned about the defence cooperation between India and Sri Lanka and that the Sri Lankan government is using this cooperation to destroy the Tamil people. Nadesan also accused TMVP's Pillayan and Karuna of leading an undisciplined para military group and added they were operating death squads for the Sri Lankan regime.

Tamil rebels declare unilateral ceasefire during SAARC talks
Posted July 21st, 2008 by Sahil Nagpal
Colombo - Sri Lanka's Tamil rebels issued a unilateral ceasefire declaration early Tuesday for a 10-day period beginning Friday.

A statement from the political wing of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) said that the ceasefire 'as a sign of goodwill' would extend through August 4 in recognition of the upcoming conference of the South Asia Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).

The meeting brings together Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan and the Maldives.

'Our movement is glad to inform that it will observe a unilateral ceasefire that is devoid of military actions during the period of the SAARC conference ... and give our cooperation for the success of the conference.' (dpa)

2days! just 2days only Nadesan needed to do his Shock and Awe attack on the invaders!

Sri Lanka's Tamil Tiger rebels have called a 10-day truce for the duration of a regional summit in the capital, but have ruled out peace talks.

They said they would offer a ceasefire from 26 July to 4 August, when Colombo hosts a South Asian summit, as a gesture of goodwill to other states.

as per bbc/ltte ceasefire is for india not for sorry lanka

ltte main foces are dug in at north vavuniya and sla is about 6 km from tunnukai and here the main battles will be fought next.

Nacholibre:
I think you can hold your horses. This is not the first time that LTTE had declared a unilateral ceasefire. If you look at the past they had always declared a unilateral ceasefire for Christmas and Easter. This is only for a period of one week and what it means is that there wont be any offensive actions in the south. This does not mean that they will not continue the defensive actions that they take in the north or east.
This is a gesture of goodwill to the neighboring countries and more specifically to India and nothing else.
I don't know whether there will be any merits to this act. Only time could answer that.
