will observe a unilateral ceasefire that is devoid of military actions during the period of the SAARC conference from 26th July to 4th August and give our cooperation for the success of the conference. At the same time if the occupying Sinhala forces, disrespecting our goodwill gesture of our people and our nation, carry out any offensives, our movement will be forced to take defensive actions.

Maybe we can find good marathon runners for olympics this time. Do they allow wear bata slippers I wonder

Wearing bata slippers with their own brethren money is better than wearing expensive boots with the begged foreign aid. That is the reason no country can tell the LTTE to what to do. :)))

This shows the fighting spirit of the LTTE leaders, specially the Pirabakaran. He may be the most coward terrorist leader in the world.

When the forcefully recruited Tamil youths are dying or when the blasting them selves in Colombo, he does not want any ceasefire, when he knows that Army firepower is now reaching him (with the capture of Mallavi), he declare ceasefire, hiding his tail between legs.

What a cowardice!!

Diaspora Come and join LTTE, rather living luxuriously with blood stained money.

I am puzzeled too. They have no reason. My only guess is that the good god answered Fonny's prayers at Dalada Maligawa and VP changed his mind!

Eastern youth to be recruited for 500 Korean jobs
Minister of Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare Keheliya Rambukwella said today (21) that steps have been taken to provide 500 employment opportunities in Korea for youth from the Eastern Province.
The selected batch will be provided with a preparatory language course prior to their departure.

Minister Rambukwella added that decision was taken following a discussion he had with the Secretary of the Eastern Provincial Council.

So far, the Foreign Employment Bureau has established two vocational training centres in the province with the objective of assisting the masses and educating them for targeted jobs in the region or elsewhere.

The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Healthcare and Nutrition have already recruited employees from these areas to serve in the respective fields in relevant institutions attached to the Ministry, the Minister noted. 'The Police Department have also taken on 375 Tamil-speaking recruits to serve in the region,' he added.

Minister Rambukwella went on to say that a large number of foreign and local investors have expressed their willingness to invest in the region in response to the Government's request.
