There is no doubt that he is an excellent man on the field and have served the country to take down LTTE, but the question is if held the view of taking off the LTTE for good, why not working along side the present government and his past friends to finish the matter off than contesting under the UNP banner? has he changed his mind about the war or the LTTE? or was he denied of something that he was to get by the present government? if the UNP don't believe in war why did they accommodate the war for such a long time from the 80s?
I hope he will get the due respect to his life and the service he has done to the country. but why not be with a winning team than on side of a team that criticize everything. |

Which exactly is the winning team? Certainly, MR and junta government who has deceived its allies, its supporters, CBK, Anura B, Mangala, sripathy and given money to LTTe cannot be the winning team. They are winning for their bellies. Jumbo cabinet is draining all the national wealth. Ordinary people live on one meal per day. Education and health have no money to run.
Cost of living is only second highest to Zimbabwe. Internation Commu is loosing faith. Slanka has become a pariah state. No body is safe. Mervin balla is running ministries.
What exactly is winning? Junta is winning. people are loosing. UNP is taking the peoples side to protect them from the evil of junta government.
Gamiya, don't go. STay on the forum. You are running away because of your stupid comments. Go write again from NCP. Mahinda will give a a computer and internet connection out of public funds and make 5 poor families starve for that.
Go and enjoy big perks in Slanka. |

There are lot of arguments about who protected the Jaffna in late 90's. But of course Anurudda Ratwatte too spend some 21 days there. There are talks about some Generals, who were at bus to come back to Colombo.
Anyway as a General, now JP should understand that being the CM for North Central province he can't beat LTTE. Need of the hour is defeating LTTE. Otherwise, he has the freedom to do his business in Australia. |

Need of the hour is defeating LTTE. Otherwise, he has the freedom to do his business in Australia.
That is why need a leader like JP.
So, what is wrong JP doing business. He is not looting the national wealth like the R brothers. He is doing honest business while R brothers are looting the national budget. Those who make a clean living are better than parasits like MR, Basil, Gota, Chamal.

We should give credit to Anurudda Ratwatte too. If not for him, there was no Jaffna capture.

Mmm.., i do not want to comment about looting the budget. Of course if you have evidence, you have the option to go to courts. Today also there is a land mark judgement, about a privatization, which happened during the 'clean UNP regime'.

Could be sir, we do not have lot of expectations, at the moment only wiping out the terrorism. Then we can settle other business easily. Anyway for we poor Sri Lankans, this lot is much enough. We can see other things at the election. |

JP is using his 'military credits' to help Ranil look 'credible' as a senior politician, who could make a 'come-back' as President of SL .. at some future date. That is what is wrong with the current 'politics' of JP. If he dis-agreed with MR's policies .. he could have tried to convey his 'ideas' to him .. for a political / military solution ..
Trying to 'confute' the President's 'program' by 'lining-up' with MR's sworn enemy is not a 'loyal' thing to do by a former high-ranking officer of the Army. (He has made a bad 'move' .. has shown himself essentially 'dis-loyal'. He could still 'gracefully' with-draw from the political arena .. and emerge as the 'good soldier', we would prefer to 'see' him as .. his 'good record' remaining un-tarnished ..)

It is known among the well informed people that the 2004 election was manipulated by the opposition politicians, including the LTTE and the JVP, to ensure Ranil is defeated.
Also these two expensive elections are to be held well ahead of time for another grand manipulation.
Janaka was in the war front. He is a soldier and he should be given full protection by those dishonest bunch of traitors.
