let me ask you a question..yes..U don't see Murali is a tamil but as a cricketer..will you give Murali the captaincy..TRY then you will know the TRUTH

of course Murali could be the captain and if this will not give any pressure to perform as a bowler.

Yes true. Not just the minority aspect, being a woman makes it difficult to become commander in chief.
now give me a word why people are not prepared to give a Tamil the TOP job..!..is it one race superior to the other..well is there a bit of racism involved..may be.. |

sorry my friend...don't take me to a different level..we are discussing a issue as grown ups..so when you brought Murali i threw it in..not in a bad or low way..
I am happy to hear you saying yes!! he will be given the captaincy..isn't Murali senior to Mahela/Sanga..what about the Vice Captaincy? it should not affect his bowling..
BTW..he has broken the record and I don't think it will affect his bowling..may be they prefer a captain for a longer period..

In a country where the majority is from another race, a minority president, if he is to peacefully and successfully to govern would have to always prove that he is catering to the majority interests of the people and this in a way will be more damaging to the minority he is from. This I think goes for Obama too. Obama would have to be more white than George Bush to just to govern. It is not something the people would be expecting actually but it is what the interest groups would be looking for. every race has its interest groups looking out for just a little mis-step.
this with the todays world would make the intentions of any president quite the opposite. so unless the particular minority president is not ready to withstand all these interests and publicity it would be quire damaging for the minorities. If Obama make one good thing for the African Americans, he would have to make 2 for the Latinos and may be 4 or 5 for the white.

| Ok.. lets talk about Murali. I also questioned many times why he is not the captain. The answer is, besides the cricketing skills, seniority etc, you have to have the leadership qualities. You have to be sort of a commander of your troops. I was told that Murali does not have a commanding personality and he is pretty much a joker in the team. A light hearted, well liked down to earth person, but never a tough leader who can command your troops. Perhaps the reason why he wasnt given captaincy. I never ever believe that race was a factor. Murali has emerged beyond any racial stigmas you can imagine. He is truly the world best at what he does without a doubt. All srilankans love him more than any other cricketer in history. |
