Like how they lost 200 men & 700 lost limbs only to retreat back & not dare to move further now on .
not realy, yes we lost around 100 soldiers in one flank, because they were holding the ground not like brave WETAMIL cannibals who were killed when they were running back! |

10,000 recuits a year !
Did not your Ponniah say that only 5000 kids are left ?
The tempo of combat continues to increase, but the LTTE have developed a recruiting and training system that enables them to continue resisting the army. LTTE recruiters keep track of births and go looking for boys and girls when they reach 17. Potentially, that's over 10,000 recruits a year.
But with those in hiding, or girls who are married, they get about half that. This includes those who desert from training, although most go for the indoctrination and become loyal LTTE fighters. But these are young and inexperienced kids with guns. The LTTE cadres (veteran fighters) act as sergeants and officers to supervise the kids, |

This is from sundayleader.. they will write what ever they want to get the UNP into govermenet...
Anyway, it will take few years to settle down the dust after the war... for example that is why here and there we will here some activities by LTTE in the east...but VP and his clowns will not last long this time..
but this not from sunday leader.
The army commander himself believes the conflict might never be totally over.
'Even if we finish the war, capture the whole of the north, still the LTTE might have some members joining them,' he said.
'There are people who believe in Tamil nationalism. The LTTE might survive another even two decades with about 1,000 cadres. But we will not be fighting in the same manner. It might continue as an insurgency forever.'

When tigers say they have lost 3000 men since the war began, it is a fair estimate of their casualties.
Why does your Fonseka hide all the death & releases the details only when he goes to USA ?

I remind again the warning,
TamilNet, Friday, 19 May 2000, 17:44 GMT
The Liberation Tigers Friday appealed to the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers in the Jaffna peninsula to surrender 'to avoid a bloodbath.' The LTTE said in a statement from its London offices that soldiers who lay down their arms 'will be treated with dignity and honour' and handed over to the custody of the International Committee of the Red Cross 'within 24 hours'.
Following is the full text of the press release:
'As a genuine endeavour to avoid the continuing bloodbath and to bring an end to the escalating violence and war, the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) has made a fervent appeal today to thousands of Sri Lankan soldiers entrapped in the Jaffna peninsula to lay down arms and surrender. The LTTE has pledged that those who lay down arms will be treated with dignity and honour and handed over to the protection of the International Committee of the Red Cross within 24 hours.
'The call for surrender is being announced by loud speakers at different battlefronts in the Jaffna theatre of war and also by the Voice of Tigers radio. Explaining the precarious nature of their predicament, the LTTE has been impressing upon the government soldiers that their vital supply lines are cut and their lives are in grave danger. They are being told that the Tamil Tigers want to avoid the human tragedy of heavy casualties of innocent Sinhala youth who are being manipulated and forced to fight a futile war to promote the political ambitions of the chauvinistic elites in Colombo. The LTTE has also given a week's ultimatum for the Sri Lankan troops to lay down arms and surrender.
'In the meantime the LTTE is also making consistent appeals to the Tamil civilian masses to move to safe areas from battle zones allocating specific locations in Valigamam West and Vadamarachi division of the Jaffna peninsula.' |
