Another town is liberated by SLDF from LTTE
July 20, Colombo: Sri Lanka army has this afternoon declared Iluppaikkadavai town liberated from LTTE control for the first time after 21 years.
Defense Ministry said troops of Task Force 1 and Commando brigade encircled the remote town situated 12 km North of Vidattaltivu by last night and entered in to the town this morning.
Defence offcials said that another large Tamil Tiger stronghold situated on the Northwestern coast of the Island has fallen with the new victory. Troops of Task Force 1 has already marched about 2 km North of Illuppaikkadavai town and consolidating their defences at present, the offcials added.
