The injured student has heard shooting minutes after he was released.

Sri Lanka Army's 58 and 57 Divisions, spearheaded by a few platoons of Commandos from the 2nd Commando Regiment took complete control of the largest Sea Tiger base in the Western Coast at the coastal village of Veduthalthivu in Mannar on Wednesday Morning without any serious confrontations inside the village.

Troops managed to recovered LTTE arms, ammunition and vehicles in the operation. A large bunker-line erected from the coast inland had also been abandoned. Search operations continued into Wednesday night to secure the village and the environs of trappings and mines.

The majority of the Tigers defending a well fortified south Veduthalthivu started withdrawing in batches early this week as the ground became untenable. Many had escaped via boats along the shallow coastal waters as parts of the A-32 road was already taken further north of the Sea Tiger base by troops from the 57 Division. Commandos managed to box in and kill around two dozen of the retreating Tigers in a ambush along the A-32.

Navy Dvora FACs can not operate safely in shallow waters and instead, Inshore Patrol Vessels with less fire-power are deployed. Since the Tigers escaped northwards only Mi-24 helicopter gunships were capable of pursuing the boats. These attacks, SLAF

Abductee recovered dead in EPDP office premises in Batticaloa
TamilNet, Thursday, 17 July 2008, 12:14 GMT

A shop owner, who was abducted by the paramilitary EPDP group in Chengkaladi in Ea'raavoor police division on June 19, was found dead and his body was recovered Thursday in the backyard of the EPDP office, which is guarded by the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) of the Kommaathu'rai camp. The location was discovered following the information revealed by the EPDP personnel to the TMVP paramilitary operatives in a 'Police interrogation', according to informed sources. An EPDP person, Kaliyappan Gunaseelan, who was abducted by the TMVP, after Sureshkumar's disappearance, was recovered dead near a pond in Vaazhaichcheanai on 27 June.

The SLA soldiers attempted to block the TMVP personnel, led by paramilitary operative and Chengkaladi Pradeshiya Sabah member Uruththiran Thursday morning when they visited the EPDP camp, which is located on Maa'nikkap Pi'l'laiyaar Road, to recover the dead body.

Later, following a complaint by Sureshkumar's relatives with the Sri Lankan Police station at Ea'raavoor, police officials were present at the site, enabling the dead body to be recovered and identified by Sureshkumar's wife.

The abductors had earlier made a ransom demand for the release of the businessman, and was apparently killed when the victim refused to pay up.

Sureshkumar was not a TMVP member or active supporter, according to his wife.

The EPDP had earlier admitted that they kept Sureshkumar in their custody. He was later released they had explained to her.

Judicial Medical Officer for the Batticoloa District Dr. A. A. N. Rahman visited the scene and was due to hold a autopsy shortly.

We regain what we belong in the original place.

Thalaivar ,

dont try to be a hero with something thats being investigated on the court and still not given a final verdict. lets keep that to the law enforcements. having that suspects of the Central Bank bomb was proven adequately and given life sentences we can expect to catch the real crooks soon.
