Karuna s HR thing. What HE says is not really important. Point is he was not charged for HRV (HIV? :) ). So the issue of clearing doesn t arise. If Karuna gets charged VP shd get charged 100times & so on.

Statement
UK concerned over twisting of Brown statement

Thursday, 17 July 2008 18:17
The British High Commission in Colombo is distressed over the twisted publication of a statement by visiting UK minister Lord Mark Malloch-Brown at a meeting with President Mahinda Rajapaksa, said sources at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The government statement, citing the British Minister of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs for Africa, Asia and the UN, was published in the media yesterday (July 16th).

It claimed Lord Malloch-Brown as having said that as the President has achieved something remarkable and impressive in establishing a process for the resolution of human rights issues, the international community would like to help Sri Lanka.

The British High Commission has notified President Rajapaksa about its concerns regarding the statement, said sources at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Although it is tradition to issue a joint statement at the conclusion of bilateral talks, the Presidential Secretariat had issued the statement in question.

At the meeting with the President, Lord Malloch-Brown had raised human rights violations, media suppression and the trend of impunity in Sri Lanka.

However, the Presidential Secretariat has reported the exact opposite, the source added.

The British minister has also condemned the assault on journalist Namal Perera and British High Commission's Political Officer Mahinda Ratnaweera, and expressed concern over the perpetrators remaining at large.

Lord Malloch-Brown also met with Eastern Chief Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan in Trincomalee yesterday.

Here, the British Minister has said that due to its human rights record, he could not guarantee the renewal of GSP+ facility to Sri Lanka, TMVP sources say.

very pathetic indeed.

All the Sri Lankan media, govt controlled, supporters or anti-government, are unanimous in black out of this news. That shows most the media and journalists are also extremists and biased.

well , the majority of Sinhalese are on the same mentality ,the Sinhala President J.R.Jayawardene's famous interview with Ian Ward of the Daily Telegraph explains very well !

...I AM NOT WORRIED ABOUT THE OPINION OF THE JAFFNA PEOPLE NOW...NOW WE CANNOT THINK OF THEM. NOT ABOUT THEIR LIVES OR OF THEIR OPINION ABOUT US...THE MORE YOU PUT PRESSURE IN THE NORTH, THE HAPPIER THE SINHALA PEOPLE WILL BE HERE...REALLY, IF I STARVE THE TAMILS OUT, THE SINHALA PEOPLE WILL BE HAPPY...

EPDP and TMVP kill the cadres of one another under the watchful guard of the SL DF.
The dead body of Thevathas Sureshkumar, who was allegedly abducted by the EPDP and killed in Chengkaladi in Ea'raavoor Police division last month, was recovered Thursday in the backyard of the EPDP office, guarded by the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) of the Kommaathu'rai camp. The location was discovered following the information revealed by the EPDP personnel to the TMVP paramilitary operatives in a 'Police interrogation', according to informed sources. An EPDP person, Kaliyappan Gunaseelan, who was abducted by the TMVP, after Sureshkumar's disappearance, was recovered dead near a pond in Vaazhaichcheanai on 27 June.

Does the army aid these paramilitaries to kill Tamils belong to one another's group?

From the web.

22 members of Black Tigers have given the opportunity to visit their families and spend two days with them.

Most likely that they are to be sent to Colombo.

Looks like SAARC will be attacked..
