Visuddhimagga is a must read.

It is the work of a Tamil monk, the Sinhalese can't do anything without the Tamils. They can't live with us and they can't live without us, that is their dilemma:)))

AnuD,

How about Vavniya Front,

Are they keep on moving forward ?

Wanni front is moving, but though General Fonseka says that he is going for kill not for land, I don't thing that is the truth. unless you hold the land, you can not support advancing troops. Farther SLA moves up, their defenses become thin and power ratio goes down. They can survive with small groups, but can not take the advantage of heavy weaponry.

mannar is an open land and they must use MBRLs and other large equipments to suppress the enemy. But with out enough power ration, they can neither move them up nor support beyound Vellankulam.

The ancient books on Buddhism in Sri Lanka was written in Pali language not because there was no sinhala language at that time, but because the discourses by Buddha were made in pali language and the monks since Ananda Thero memorised them in pali and continued to do so for generations and also since the concept was that sri lanka is the place chosen to keep the purest form of Buddhism, the monks thought it is best to keep what Buddha preached in its original form.

She is a girl who is getting married in the near future. we do have a soft corner for her. I dont think its we against her. it is trying to enlighten her to see the truth which is fully wide open in front of her eyes. choosing or not choosing to see it is her issue. but trying to help her out to see it is a duty to a fellow human being.

I suppose everyone has to get married if not married already..
I am so happy you have a soft corner for her after what she writes about all sinhalese..That shows we can live as SL's lolz.
Well how on earth you can say your not against her when she bash all sinhalese..is it your opinion or most of the guys who were against her for the last 1 hour..lolz
I am sure she stick to her points very well and she does not use bad language and I am sure that annoys everyone who is against her..

At one point, they have to change the strategy.

I don't know about military strategy. but,my guess is that Amphibious landing is not wise.

Instead, MI 24s may be useful.

The word, TamilNAdu came to exist since 1964.

The ancient Tamil books and inscriptions clearly describe the boundaries of the Land of Tamils or Tamil speaking world ('Thamil Koorum nallulakam') .The Land of Tamils is from the Devendra Munai in the island of Eelam to the Hills of Venkadam in India.

A prominent human rights watchdog has criticised the British government for allowing Vinayagamoorthi Muralitharan alias Colonel Karuna Amman, a former Tamil Tigers leader, to return to Sri Lanka

as a free man.

45-year-old Karuna was released from a jail in London

last month after serving three months for entering Britain on a forged visa and diplomatic passport.

In a statement, Human Rights Watch (HRW) described him as 'abusive former Tamil Tiger leader'.

It also urged the Sri Lankan government to investigate and prosecute him for alleged war crimes committed by him as commander of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).

Karuna was the top commander of the LTTE in eastern Sri Lanka, and the reputed number two in the organisation until he left to form his own armed group in March 2004.

Because his group fought against LTTE in recent years, HRW said, the Sri Lankan government did not prosecute him.

The rights watchdog said Tamil Tiger forces under Karuna's command were directly involved in some of the worst crimes of Sri Lanka's ongoing civil war, including torture, summary execution, and use of children as soldiers.

'The British government had an alleged war criminal in custody for six months and couldn't manage to file charges,' said Brad Adams, Asia director at Human Rights Watch.

'This was a rare opportunity to hold a leader of the Tamil Tigers accountable for horrific human rights abuses, and the British government blew it.

Immigration authorities in the UK arrested Karuna on November 2, 2007. After a criminal conviction, he served half of a nine-month term for possessing illegal documents. Despite assistance from NGOs and others, the government on May 9 announced that the Crown Prosecution Service found there was insufficient evidence to convict Karuna for any criminal offences in the UK, HRW said.

The British government, HRW noted, had frequently raised concerns about Sri Lanka's deteriorating human rights situation with Colombo and has long criticised the LTTE for serious human rights abuses.

British law permits the prosecution of individuals for serious violations of international law, including torture and war crimes, committed abroad. In 2005, UK courts convicted a former Afghan warlord, Faryadi Sarwar Zardad, for acts of torture and hostage-taking in Afghanistan.

The HRW said in June 1990, some 400 to 600 police officers who surrendered to the LTTE were bound, gagged, and beaten. The Tamil Tigers, including forces under Karuna's control, then executed the Sinhalese and Muslims among them.

'Karuna's escape from justice in the UK is a failure for international justice,' Adams said. 'Now that Karuna is back in Colombo, the spotlight is on the Sri Lanka government to do the right thing or be deemed complicit in his crimes.'

Berty,

what are the other options Karuna or Pillyan will have if Gosl decides to dump them?

GOSL is not going to dump them in immediate future. For sure, GOSL will convince Karuna not to vie for CM post and promise something in next general election which is due in 2009. Mean time Karuna will be kept busy with some request to help with welioya front. Walioya seems to be the most vulnerable and fragile out of all defenses.

Free Lancer,

do you know how far is Vellankulam to Vidthalthivu on A32?

Why do you say that if amphibious landing is not possible, SLA cannot go beyond Vellankullam.

Do you remember how SLA got the LTTE bundled up behind verugal aru, the great devider??
