The Soldiers continued fighting with the terrorists for about 5 hours and declared the area captured around 6 pm in the evening.

Ground troops claimed 9 LTTE bunkers were destroyed. Troops are holding 7 LTTE bunkers at present, said the sources.

According to the monitored radio transmissions among the LTTE units, 17 LTTE cadres were killed and more that 25 others were wounded in this incident. However, ground troops on their observations, claimed that the actual enemy deaths and casualties should be higher than the above number.

It is a nothing but joke to invite foreign powers to solve problems within the country. That shows nothing but how poor our thinking is. That is a disgrace for our independence because we cannot keep kissing foreign a s s es for everything. Me and I am sure almost everybody like that we end dealing with Norway.

The reality is that we need financial aid from international community in times of diaster like flood and Tsunami AND even for the development. What TMVP'S thinking behind this is that if we depend on central govt for foreign aid to be routed through the aid may not reach eastern province and may be utilised for other province where majority are sinhalese so they will benefit at the expense of tamil people.

IT is going to be BYE BYE GSP+ !

The European Union has informed the Sri Lankan government that it was surprised to have received a large number of requests from various groups and individuals urging it not to extend Sri Lanka s GSP+ facility, International Trade Minister G.L Peiris said yesterday.

EU officials in Brussels have expressed astonishment at the large number of emails being received on a daily basis asking that the GSP+ facility be not extended, Prof. Peiris said adding that Sri Lanka too was disappointed at the news.

He told a media conference that according to these emails, the individuals or the groups had charged that Sri Lanka should be deprived of the concession as it had failed to apply on time. He said another reason given was that the French government was planning to take Sri Lanka before the International Court of Justice over the investigations into the massacre of the aid workers who worked for the Action against Hunger NGO and the many human rights issues in the country.

First I must say that there is no necessity to apply for the facility prematurely as the EU has not even planned its framework regarding the GSP+, Prof. Peiris said and added that however the EU had indicated the framework would be drafted by the end of this month.

Commenting on the second charge Prof. Peiris said the French government specifically informed him that it did not have any plans to bring Sri Lanka before the International Court of Justice on any matter.

I can assure you here, that there is no such thing as mentioned in certain reports recently about taking Sri Lanka to the International Court of Justice, Prof. Peiris said.

The minister also said Sri Lanka was being targeted by some individuals and groups to prevent it from being granted the GSP + facility.

Chennaiguy,

Do you speaking anythingelse better than crap? I would wonder. Well, whether it is true or not about photographed, there is no warning given either in U.S. in capturing illegal immigrants who did not even do anything. They come in the middle of the night and capture these immigrants. Now who stands against those? None. Do not just scream and yell just because 800 people are searched during a search operation.

Do you rather searched the area for terrorists or do you rather go in a bus that a bomb goes off? What would you prefer more?

As per sldf
Two soldiers were killed, 2 reported missing and 10 others suffered injuries during this battle. Clearing operations are in progress.

AS PER puthinam.com

15 sla were killed and 30 sla injured and 2 bodies of sla were recovered in Thekkadu in mannar yesterday by successfully retaliating the advance of sla.

http://www.puthinam.com/full.php?2b34OOe4b33A6D7e4d45Vo6ca0bc4AO24d3oImA3e0dU0Mtlce03f1eW0cc3mcYAde

2 sla MIA must be those 2 bodies recovered by ltte. so it seems puthinam news correct. but no sla killed and injured differs from SLDF figures.

Nacho .. can you now believe that?
