The LTTE yesterday ruled out the possibility of any reconciliation with Karuna Amman and termed such reports as mere rumours.
The TMVP also ruled out that Karuna would rejoin the LTTE and said that his return to the country to rejoin the outfit was being awaited.
We are confident that Karuna will not join the LTTE as he has rejected the Tigers policies and leadership. If anyone thinks that a Karuna-LTTE alliance is in the making, then I have to tell them that it would be the biggest joke of the year, TMVP spokesperson Azad Maulana told the Daily Mirror.
The LTTE also maintained that the rumours were a mere joke and claimed that the Tigers would never accept Karuna back into the organisation.
Speaking about Karuna is a waste of time. We will never take him back. There are other more important issues which could be discussed other than such baseless reports, LTTE military spokesperson, Rasiah Illantheriyan said. He added that the LTTE did not need an alliance to regain the east and warned the LTTE would recapture the area soon.
Meanwhile, the LTTE has also expressed great concern at the suffering of thousands of Tamils due to the closure of the Omanthai entry/exit point.
Mr. Illanthariyan said following the temporary withdrawal of the ICRC from the area, many civilians were suffering and blamed the Sri Lanka Air Force for the misery.
Sri Lanka Air Force fighter jets have bombed very close to the ICRC camp which is why the ICRC has temporarily pulled out. This was also an area with a lot of civilians. The Government is purely to be blamed for the suffering of the Tamil civilians, he said.
