SLDF's will lose plane / air bases / navel bases and thousands soldiers. They have no illusions about it. This is how a war is fought. They also know that there will be these attacks by the LTTE to divert SLDF manpower from the vanni front.
If the LTTE has taken control of the Navel base fully as the Tamilnet reports, expect MiGs there soon. Since the Mannar area is cleared of LTTE this base becomes less important.

Sea Tigers attack key SLN camp in Mannaar
Liberation Tigers had again demonstrated that they can attack any place any time, anywhere in the whole island.
SLA is yet to see a WMD attack by Tigers, which would make it the biggest attack on a Sinhala force by a foreign army, in the history of the island!

Before that, it is good if this ELLALAN Force can UNDERSTAND that there would have been no historical character by the name ELLALAN (aka ELARA or ELALA) if not for the accounts left by Sinhala Bikkus of Maha Viharaya.
