A Singaporean man who hid Sri Lanka to fake his own death in an insurance scam plead guilty for the offence in court yesterday.

Under elaborately devised plan the man s relatives claimed that he had been killed by the LTTE and collected his life insurance worth 330,000 Singaporean Dollars. (24 million Sri Lankan Rupees)

Gandaruban Subramaniam, a 60-year-old Singaporean, admitted to conspiring with his younger brother S Moganarubanand former wife Renuga Devi Sinnaduray to cheat two insurance companies in 1989, The Straits Times said.

He was arrested last year after trying to enter Singapore on a fake passport.

Renuga, 51, said that Gandaruban faked his death to escape from creditors after his car-rental business failed in 1987.

Deputy Public Prosecutor James Lee told the court Thursday that after fleeing to Sri Lanka, Gandaruban came up with the scheme to fake his death in order to collect on three life-insurance policies, the report said.

He obtained a fake death certificate. Renuga filed court documents swearing that Ganaruban, then her husband, died without leaving a will.

Renuga deposited two cheques in one account and later transferred some of the insurance money to a joint bank account with Moganaruban.

Moganaruban, once a leading figure in the Tamil community, served 26 months in prison for his role in the scam.

Renuga was charged with conspiracy to cheat and jailed for a year.

LTTE gave the opportunity for Tamils to migrate to developed countries as refugees but wanted them to pay back too, a win win situation in the beginning. However now that LTTE is on the verge of total extermination Diaspora will be the only winners even there will be no Tamil Eelam.

After LTTE is defeated and normalcy is restored by GOSL in the North, there will be a boost of economy in the North supported by none other than the Diaspora them selves.

Tamils abducting themselves

That is how Tamils go missing in the South.

They are being abducted to Europe for refugee status, which allows them to do all cleaning jobs. :):)

We should bring EU to international courts for this human exploitation and trafficking.:):)
