Jace,
but like I said. They are physically very different
I have some Srilankan Tamil friends here in chennai too. But some of those guys you will able to differentiate only when speak to them.
Their choice of Tamil words sometimes are not in use in chennai.
They often use ' kathaikireengala ' which in English means ' are you talking '.
This word is never used by any Indian tamil.
I had one Srilankan tamil who worked under me. He looked like normal indian tamil guy but only his language differentiates .

Fair enough. Thanks for the info. Still prefer to believe my eyes and my ears.
Either way, majority of most indian tamils are pretty decent chaps.
My only gripe with them is whenever they see a white person, they turn to jelly. It's Sir this and Sir that even to a junior white guy.
Makes me cringe, and I try to educate them, but never get anywhere. They just can't get out of their inferiority complex.

The issue here is whether you believe the constant propaganda that is fed into your eyes & ears by GOSL govt !
Can you remember when SL was grouped with countries like Sudan , Congo & Zimbabue & also all aid money is getting blocked as well ?
Do you still think GOSL is doing a good job militarily, Politically & Economically ?

My ass you are an indian tamil
I have on this forum just said that Indian tamils, are ugly and look like australian aborigines, are not polished or sophisticated, can not speak tamil properly, kiss white ass, and you did not feel the need to defend them once?
Why is that?
Yeah right you are an Indian Tamil. And Prabakaran is going to be the next pope.
Anway JaffnaGuuy as I will now refer to you. To answer you question
1 Militarily - yes
2. Politically - yes, in Sri Lankan political fashion
3. Economically - NO
and my own no. 4
4. Diplomatically with the rest of the world - No.

Will Mahinda has to send Shrianthi to Ahmedanijad's Home ?
The tourism industry in southern Sri Lanka, badly hit by recent unrest, is fighting back by highlighting its best attractions and drawing local visitors, but they also want authorities to lobby harder against foreign travel advisories.
Hotelier are desperate to revive an industry that offers plenty of attractions for visitors but has been hit hard by image problems caused by escalating war between government forces and Tamil Tigers.
One of the hardest hit, is the tourist industry in the southern town of Tangalle.
'Around ninety percent of the hotels in the Tangalle area have already closed,' Keerthi Wedarachchi, President of the Tangalle Tourism Association said.
'You can't find a single tourist in Tangalle. I paid the salaries of my staff and closed my hotel last month.'
Tangalle is a popular coastal stretch in the Hambantota district known for its pristine and golden beaches.
Guerilla attacks on the Galle harbour, and further south in the Yala national park have scared tourists away, Wedarachchi said.
The area has thirty five restaurants, and six tourist board approved hotels with around four hundred rooms.
Worth Visiting
The area has plenty of attractions to lure both local and foreign visitors.
Hoteliers say tourists visiting Yala and Hindu and Buddhist temples in Kataragama used to stop over at Tangalle to enjoy the beaches and other attractions like the blowhole in Kudawella, Mulgirigala rock cave temple and the turtle conservation village in Rekawa.
According to the Hamabantota chamber of commerce, around ten percent of the district's population depends on tourism for their livelihood.
The Tangalle tourism association says the tsunami affected industry in Tangalle was recovering with high occupancy levels in 2006 when the conflict blew up.
Hoteliers say travel warnings following attacks on the Galle harbour and Yala national park scared away tourists from the Tangalle area. The park was closed after the attacks until the army cleared the area.
But they note that the industry could have been sustained if local tourists patronized the area.
'If local tourists start visiting Yala and Kataragama, they would stopover at Tangalle,' Ananda Wijetunga, owner of Panorama Rock Caf said.
'They will not come traveling five and a half hours from Colombo just to visit Tangalle, they would rather visit resorts in Wadduwa, Bentota or Hikkaduwa closer to Colombo.
'My hotel has been closed for the past six months and I'm thinking of putting it up for sale,' he said.
Trying Harder
Industry players say more intensive promotion of the region as a safe destination among foreign tour operators is needed.
