Have you not yet got him ?

Balraj was 42

How old is Velu?

Considering the great phyiscial shape he is in and the stress-free life he is living with access to the best medical care and living a comfortable and pleasant existence 40ft underground etc, he should live another 80 years at least

so don't worry CG. All is well. Peelam is just around the corner

Who is going to clean the Scared Tooth ?

THE Sacred Tooth Relic and the Dalada Maligawa were desecrated by allowing SivasuntharaI Chanthrakanthan alias Pillayan to pay homage to them, former Diyawadana Nilame Niranjan Wijeratne has charged.

The bomb-laden lorry that exploded in front of the Maligawa on January 24, 1998 had been traced to the Eastern Province where Chanthrakanthan was a high-ranking Tiger leader

This was the man who got down the lorry from Kandy to Batticaloa and sent back the vehicle laden with bombs. It was also he who masterminded the Aranthalawa bhikku massacre in the 80s. In such a backdrop it was a pity to note why the Asgiriya and Malwatte Mahanayake Theros allowed the main perpetrator of the Maligawa attack to step in to the Temple of the Tooth, added Wijeratne.

On what basis did the government provide security for this terrorist to visit the Maligawa and also to go around the palace? If I was the Diyawadana Nilame I wouldn t have allowed him in but sad to note that the present day politicians would allow any wrongdoer to pay homage to the Relic for political advantage, added Wijeratne

LTTE men out to prove individual prowess
Nirupama Subramanian

COLOMBO, June 27: Spurred by the success of their attacks on the Sri Lankan army at Thandikulam and Omanthai in quick succession, area commanders of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) are now vying with with each other to display their military talents and prove their loyalty to their leader, Velupillai Prabhakaran, Tamil sources said.

Tuesday's attack on the area secured by soldiers only a month ago was a message to the government that even if the military manages to achieve its objective of securing the Vavuniya-Killinochchi highway, the Tigers are unlikely to take it lying down.

It indicated that they are not short on military talent, manpower or materials and will mount similar attacks again and again till it becomes unviable for the army to hold on to the road.

In a statement from its London headquarters, the LTTE said it had killed more than 100 soldiers in the attack on Tuesday and taken away a 120 mm gun, 300 artillery shells and other small arms. It admitted to losing 85 of its own cadres in the attack.

At least three more LTTE area commanders are believed to be awaiting their turn to show that they can better the counter-offensive at Omanthai and the one at Thandikulam two weeks ago. Sources said that in a well-planned move before the launch of Operation Jaya Sekuru, Prabhakaran placed several commanders in charge of various key towns, ordering them to treat the battle as ''my war'', immediately turning it into a challenge for each of them.

Moreover, by placing women in charge of the team that led the first successful attack, Prabhakaran ensured that the men would try not to fall short of the standards and pace set by the LTTE women's wing.

''There is now a scramble amongst these commanders to outdo each other and by the men to outdo the women,'' said a former Tamil militant now based in the Sri Lankan capital. Sources said the two attacks on Jaya Sekuru were devised by two senior military strategists of the LTTE, Bhanu and Jeyam.

In charge of Omanthai for the current battle against the Sri Lankan army, both are experienced in many LTTE operations. Jeyam was one of the leaders of the attack on the Mullaithivu army camp, perhaps the LTTE's biggest military success. Army officers are believed to be allergic to the very sound of his name.

Awaiting the army at Puliyankulam is Balraj, the LTTE's deputy military commander, second only to Prabhakaran. Sources said that if the army manages to push through into the town, Balraj would have to better his juniors in the LTTE or at least equal them.

Similarly, Swarnam, the leader of the LTTE's Charles Antony brigade which is trained for special operations, has been placed in charge of Oddusudan, which is at an equal distance from Mankulam on the highway and Prabhakaran's hide-out at Mullaithivu in the north-east. And Karuna, who was the LTTE military in-charge of Batticaloa region, is believed to be now in the region of Nedunkerni which was taken by the army in the first few days of Operation Jaya Sekuru.

Jace,

but like I said. They are physically very different

I have some Srilankan Tamil friends here in chennai too. But some of those guys you will able to differentiate only when speak to them.

Their choice of Tamil words sometimes are not in use in chennai.

They often use ' kathaikireengala ' which in English means ' are you talking '.

This word is never used by any Indian tamil.

I had one Srilankan tamil who worked under me. He looked like normal indian tamil guy but only his language differentiates .

Fair enough. Thanks for the info. Still prefer to believe my eyes and my ears.

Either way, majority of most indian tamils are pretty decent chaps.

My only gripe with them is whenever they see a white person, they turn to jelly. It's Sir this and Sir that even to a junior white guy.

Makes me cringe, and I try to educate them, but never get anywhere. They just can't get out of their inferiority complex.

The issue here is whether you believe the constant propaganda that is fed into your eyes & ears by GOSL govt !

Can you remember when SL was grouped with countries like Sudan , Congo & Zimbabue & also all aid money is getting blocked as well ?

Do you still think GOSL is doing a good job militarily, Politically & Economically ?

My ass you are an indian tamil

I have on this forum just said that Indian tamils, are ugly and look like australian aborigines, are not polished or sophisticated, can not speak tamil properly, kiss white ass, and you did not feel the need to defend them once?

Why is that?

Yeah right you are an Indian Tamil. And Prabakaran is going to be the next pope.

Anway JaffnaGuuy as I will now refer to you. To answer you question

1 Militarily - yes
2. Politically - yes, in Sri Lankan political fashion
3. Economically - NO

and my own no. 4

4. Diplomatically with the rest of the world - No.
