Middleman,
Buddy, lets not go down to the level of calling names either. Criticize them all you like, but avoid calling names.

Sorry mate. Sure. I don't want to insult the real bunker rats.
Oh.. even worse. My bad. I insulted the real cannibals too.

Berty, I was in UK well before 1983 riots (though I did come for a holiday to SL in 1982).

However I had family and friends there, and I am aware of the atrocities.

An uncle of mine had his Factory and home looted by some of his own workers. A month later, he saw one of the workers/looters, begging for food on the street. 'My uncle told him, 'Son, had you and your friends not looted my factory, and home, you would still have a job, and not be begging in the streets'. He replied, 'Sorry Sir, my mind was not right, we are going to all pay a lot in the future for our ignorance'. My uncle took him home, and fed him.

I am also aware of some real kindness that also happened among normal people, which is why I also have some hope.

Its really sad berty, because I believe there are hope, and deep down.. I am sure that people are willing to work towards a settlement, but it seems each side is waiting for the other to put their foot first.

My frustration was directed at WRH and the like. I think and hope you still remember me as a guy who hates to see death of human beings from any part of the world.
My frustration is at LTTE and the supremo and the morons like WRH. I hope you can understand that.

Gonnamba and Berty, The problem with calling names is, it can sometimes backfire on yourself.

You both seem well spoken, and I do enjoy debating with you both, but when names get called, sometimes it brings you down to the level of those you you may be fighting with.

Thank you for the post..I like it but the one before where you show your gratitude cos you were saved by a Sinhalese family and at the same time did not show any feelings for other Tamils who were murdered/raped etc..was indeed SAD.
Let me tell you something..I lost my cousin who was in his teens was burnt alive in 1983 but I don't hold it against the Sinhalese but hard to forget it too..Yes..we have moved on..we don't need LTTE..may be we don't need a separate state too..but please tell me what would you say to someone whose parents were killed in 1977 while you were saved by a sinhala family..will you tell him that please don't hold against the Sinhalese..
Take this stupid bomb blast..are you going to tell the Sinhalese not to hold it against Tamils..I read in someones earlier post where he said this is a good reason for Police to harass Tamils in Colombo or even Rape..

I understand we get extreme guys on both sides and my opinion about you will never change..I do remember malli but seriously i have no problem when you direct any names on LTTE or VP..I might have done at times with the Gosl..let us avoid civilians..they are innocent.

sorry if i have hurt your feelings..did not mean it

Holy Shift,

What happened?

Its bad news Friday.......Another Bomb?

Looks like this was meant for Pillayan.

Another way to distract the CM appointment ceremonies.

GOSL is in a tight spot, COL is has hit the roof and has to maintain 'Business as Usual' in Colombo amids these bombings. It take time to tackle both these issues at the same time. So it is better finish the LTTE problem and then
tackle the COL problem. People has to tighten their belts
little bit. 'Yuda gini Niwala, Bada gini Niwagamu'
