Though Muslim members are in the majority in the EPC, The Governor is Mohan Wijewickrema The Chief Minister is Pillaiyan

We do understand your concern for the poor muslims. But I am sure they will understand that it is critical for Pillayan to be the CM to keep things under control. Nothing more to it.

Though Muslim members are in the majority in the EPC,

The Governor is Mohan Wijewickrema
The Chief Minister is Pillaiyan

no Muslim is appointed to the office that frustrates the will of the electorates of EPC.

Muslims in east don't trust Tamil politicians. They have suffered enough.

This is quite evident in CM race.

According to lanka academic, Notorious LTTE commander 'Lt. Col' Gadaffi (head of Imran Pandiyan) an experienced sea-tiger leader and 'Lt. Col' Vaikunthan, who at one point led the LTTE s artillery division, was killed by SLDF strikes. They were given the last rights in Killi yeasterday.

No wonder LTTE Suicide Bomber in Colombo got excited.

I am not arguing the merits of the CM appointment. But can the center govern EP with Hizbulla as CM and Pilliyan opposing? Pilliyan is armed and Hizbulla is not. What we just saw was the disadvantage of allowing a party to be armed and be in democratic politics. The power of the bullet will prevail over the power of the ballot. This is nothing new if you look at most of the small African countries. The challenge is to gradually disarm the political party either by absorbing the armed unit to regular forces or creating educational or employment opportunities.

It is tragic that innocent civilians often get killed in this ethnic war. This damn killing is going on unabated from the out set, since independence.

There are always people in position or power or authority to endorse and condone such killings, some time intentionally and at time collaterally.

We are in the midst of nature's fury such as in Burma and China but in SL it is always the work of evil humans on both sides of the divide.

Even the 2004 Tsunami failed to bring the evil factions together and even the tsunami was used for their mutual evil designs.

Horrible, evil, design. No one seems to care for these poor people who are caught up in this one of the biggest man made messes in the world.

It is difficult to give a chief post to every politician because they say they are from a certain ethnic or religious background.

IF he is Sinhala we can scold him and chase him out.

There should be another way to show their leadership skills. Unfortunately, in Sri Lanka most of them wants to be politicians. Because, it is very easy to become politicians whether they are accountable to people or whether they are capable.

This is why, some intelligent political Leader need to change the way politicians are chosen.

There should be a method to elect people who really work for the country or to the community and also to give opportunity to give capable people a chance.

Dvladv,
The challenge is to gradually disarm the political party either by absorbing the armed unit to regular forces or creating educational or employment opportunities.

And what a challenge it is going to be. Pillayan has got the STF out of the east too. Giving him the CM post WAS the only option.
This is THE real test of nerves. Not what is happening with the LTTE.

Tell me why people like you should not had had KRT treatment if you were in Sri Lanka.

Nada,
Even the 2004 Tsunami failed to bring the evil factions together

In hindsight, The Tsunami actually has had the exact opposite reaction.
