I dont know why we are having this debate, if Pilliyan has the most votes in the winning party he should be the CM, and same goes to any one else.
In any election the leader is elected by the members elected in that party. PM is elected by the MPs in that party but the presidential system in SL make mockery of democracy by making the president the almighty. He/She appoints even the CM of PCs. He will appoint only a puppet he can manupilate and the same goes to PM. |

Bomb in Colombo kills 9 and injures 85 in a police bus.
A three-wheeler fitted with a bomb rammed into a bus carrying riot control police commandos, few hundred meters away from the Sri Lankan Presidential Secretariat, Friday noon, killing at least 9 persons, 7 policemen and 2 civilians, and injuring more than 50 policemen and 35 civilians. The explosion has taken place on Lotus Road inside the High Security area near the Hilton Hotel. 12 wounded policemen were in critical condition, according to medical sources in Colombo hospital.
