Hey Man!

Since sound travels faster in water the supersonic speed limit is much lower -submarine!

Now i believe Eelamaya? WRH? !

GOSL -yr days are numbered!

Btw supersonic speeds can be achieved underwater as you pointed out in that thread using supercavitation

I gave up on supercavitation after somebody mistook a B-52 for a B-2 Spirit!!

Max speed achieved so far using supercavitation is on this..thats what I found on Wiki
In 2004, German weapons manufacturer Diehl BGT Defence announced their own supercavitating torpedo, Barracuda. (English translation) According to press reports, it reaches 800 km/h

SpecialFarts

Elam is here...i can smell it from a distence...

The very first time you have spoken the truth and facts. Good job. You seems not like the general sinhala who was born without even commonsense and who brag about that they born to animals and behave like one. Good job and I encourage you to behave not like a sinhala born to an animal but first as a human being like us.

keep it up.

Oh man. That would be worse that putting Mervyn in the Cabinet.
Theoretically it can be done as MBRL does not have a re-coil. But by angling it you are directing the blast from the back on to the water and that will create huge control problems for the vessel. They are not accurate when they are launched by the land based launch vehicle. It will be awful from a sea going craft.

Is the SLN consulting Chennai on this project ?

:))))

it reaches 800 km/h

even that speed is fatal for bigger ships...cos their flank speeds of around 35-45 knots is nothing compared to this...they will be sunk even before they make any evasive maneuver....not to mention the Kinetic Energy!

the supercavitating Torps do to huge ships what the Mach 3 Brahmos does above air...both are revolutionary and are explicitly designed to take out super carriers.

this is why i personally believe that the Carriers would go the way the WW2 Era battleships did...made extinct.

even with a lot of close in weapons systems/air-def missiles.....including those of other ships from the carrier battle group...can it surrvive a swarm of 50 march 3 (and later hypersonic versions) Anti-ship missiles and about 20 such super cavitating torps?

nope..it will be just a massacre

and it will be super-cost effective too!
cos EVEN if such a missile costs half a million...50 such missiles is like what? 25Million $? thats peanuts..to take out a supercarrier and some other ships on its battlegroup

yeah and not to mention that the sea is far less stable a platform than land is!!

and the firing would cause even more pitch and yaw!
i guess they can fire all over the map with that method :))))))

Basic calculations show that a march 3 Brahmos hitting a carrier would have about 8 times the kinetic effect an American harpoon anti-ship would have had..would break the back of the ship...i bet 3 or 4 would be more than enough to sink it outright....but even if one hits the magazines..fuel...inner-hanger decks...the end would be even sooner..

and not to mention the fact that brahmos has counter-counter measures and is able to take evasive action en-route to the target...the sleek-design and radar absorbent paint would make target aquisition even harder for anti-missile systems.

oh wait...correction...

Being twice as heavy and almost four times faster than the Tomahawk,
the BrahMos has almost 32 times the initial kinetic energy of a Tomahawk missile
!!!!!!!

Now about the Super sonic B-52..

1.Remove the 8 engines on the wing and mount 4 bigger ones with afterburner closer to the belly set back from the shock wave.

2. Chop off the wings in half and make them swing out for landing / take off and swing in for supersonic flight.

3. Chop shorten the fuselage and make the tail a little smaller.. give it a new pointed nose.

That is your suppersonic B-52. AKA the B1B Lancer.
