Considering Oxford is the home of future politicians, and other important folk, It may indeed backfire.
Indeed. MR, who had not seen even the back yard of a good university, could not speak off the cuff. He read out a talk written by his PS. He (would not and ) could not take questions only because of his poor English and poor general knowledge let alone political knowledge.
Giving talks to Oxford Union is for ture intelectuals like Lilith Athulathmudali, Gamini Dissa, JRJ and Clinton.
The man from down south should have addressed a 'govihamuwa' at Hambantota. That is his class.

Sinhala, Tamil, or Muslims, they all turning into ruthless devils in front of selfish opportunities.
That is one animal quality still we share in our blood. Cultures and religions are helping to control them, but still we have to take care from us.
What wrong with LTTE is, they systematically trained some members to use these deadly characters against other people, as a war tool.
Even we may see some ruthless elements in SLA (or in any army) too, but since matters are linked with the out side world, they cant continue those ruthless acts, even they want to do.

So that time Police and Army controlled this country
Worse. These days the country is run by police and army headed by a SLFP/UNP/JHU junta.

This modaya tried to put the balme on the LTTE .But he did not give any chance for the students to clear their doubts by refusing to take questions.
He thought Oxford is in his pariah state where he can gag anybody or the media.
But sadly for him ,Oxford is in the western democracy and not in the sinhala Nazi facist pariah state.
That is where he made the mistake of consenting to speak to the students of the Oxy Uni.
The students want to know why the LTTE choose the bullet instead of ballot.
He never gave the students any opportunity to know the answer,by refusing to take questions.
Tha's why I said yesterday-this modaya has given a golden opportunity to the Tamils to tell the true story to the students and the British public,as to why the Tamils took up arms.

Tamils to tell the true story to the students and the British public,as to why the Tamils took up arms.
This is where Tamils (here LTTE Tamils) did wrong.
Making the IC understand is one thing.
Taking arms is another thing.
British public will never endorse taking arms to settle political and ethnic issues in these days. |
