I dint follow all news to read about MR's talk at Oxford.
After all its a sort of an achievement for a politician to address a crowd there.
Anyway, if he handled Qs from students, its much better.
Leaders are failing to response Qs, time to time, according to prevailing situations and also due to own weakness of the matter.
We all saw this with VP too, when he faced media some years ago.
Without proper answers for the very matter he is good at, Bala rescued him at that time.
If MR failed as a leader, south has enough people to re-place him (no matter how good they are). If VP failed, I wonder how many are there to replace him..! |

Subject suposed to be 'Strategy towards empowering the rural economy in Sri Lanka' but the poor MR almost cried abour LTTE in every sentence he spoke,
...since war with LTTE is standing as a big barrier against such development activities of Sri Lanka. |

U always take the wrong person to compare. It is all about MR vs VP.
The issue here is if MR choose to go to Oxford he should be able to take questions..If You can't do it then you should not even think about it. I am not sure of MR's objective here..
Ur right Bala came to the rescue of VP at times at that media conference, but it is not on the subject matter but of VP's poor standard in communicating in English..if the questions were asked in Tamil then VP will know how to answer them since he is the expert..
I don't think You can compare a speech in Oxford Vs a rare media briefing with question and answers. Remember VP still took questions..

Tamils, Muslims & Sinhalese need good leaders. It is the main issue in Sri lanka.
Sri Lanka need people like Premadasa & Lakshman K.

Sounds like we are discussing really important subject matter to day . like why didnt MR take questions form a bunch of college kids .
Who cares , may be he had a headache , may be he really needed to pee, may be his security detail told him not to. Who knows who cares .

I thought Premadasa had a lot of good qualities but he was an unbelievable fool . Which cost him his life . |
