Not only the political extremists but also those in the forum know that this EPC has no power to do anything. These power hungry Pillaiyan and Hisbulla also know but egoism is self-destructive and irrational.

Unless the president is honest in power devolution and genuine power sharing with autonomous N-EPC with Cantons for Muslims as they themselves wanted no problem will be solved. The ethnic conflict will explode on his face time and time again. The APRC chairman produced genuine proposal for such a devolved unit with enclaves for Muslim and Sinhalese minorities within NEPC, but, MR torpedoed it.

The dishonest extremists must realise that you cannot fool minoriies for ever by divide and destroy policy, but, for a short time possible.

Congress calls for ban on pro-LTTE outfits

Chennai (PTI): Congress, a key ally of Tamil Nadu's ruling DMK, on Monday demanded a ban on pro-LTTE organisations in the state and asked the state government to deal with 'scourge of terrorism with iron hand.'

'Terrorism of any kind, whether it be from Sri Lanka or within the state (Maoists) or communal, should be dealt with an iron hand,' senior Congress leader D Sudarshanam told the state assembly while participating in the debate on the demand for grants to the Home Department held by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.

Without naming any organisation or political party, he demanded a ban on all outfits in the state openly supporting the proscribed LTTE.

'The Tamil Nadu Government should also urge the Centre to extend the ban on the LTTE', he said.

The Centre had first banned the LTTE in 1992 and last extended it on May 14, 2004. The organisation had been banned under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.

On encounter deaths, Sudharshanam said it was not only a mode of self-defence for the police but a way to ensure security for common people from anti-socials.

'Mumbai was freed from the grips of various underworld elements by the police only after many anti-socials were killed in such encounters,' he said.

Meanwhile, opposition AIADMK, alleging 'breakdown in law and order' in the state, said there was a 'bomb culture' happening in Tamil Nadu.

Should'nt be difficult to decide between Pillaiyan, and Hisbullah for post of CM ..

As long as there is a threat from the LTTE .. as for disruption of 'constructive' work in re- building the Eastern province, Pillaiyan must be CM .. as he has the 'clout', to do some-thing about it.

(Hisbullah can have his 'shot' at becoming CM, at the next Elections .. when one hopes, Eastern province has seen a 'good measure' of development, and VP and the LTTE are no more).

When unrest between Tamil and Muslim widens, Sinhalese would use armed forces to facilitate the colonization in the name of development.

Hill country was forest and the Eastern Province was highly populated with people through out the Sri Lankan History.

Protugeese killed so many Sinhala people and chased out everybody to Kandian Kingdom. that is how Many Buddhist temples in the East had to be abandoned and the Hill country became populated.

Long ago, Most of the Elephant lived in the hill country area eating KITHUL.
