You need only a few thugs to start a riot, ppl like you may give hiding places for the Tamils who are on the run, but, you won't stand up to oppose those thugs. That's is the difference between sweeping under the carpet and cleaning the place.

Same with Tamils, you won't stand up against the LTTE and say what they are doing is wrong, may be just sympathies when somebody gets killed from a suicide bomb.

May be most of the Tamil are not supporting the LTTE directly not nobody will go against it,

Nothing will happen by pointing fingers at each other. :)

Gons there is a grain of truth in his argument.

Sinta - It is not just the sinhalese who are guilty of not standing to our thugs you are too.

It is not always pratical either . That is why the Karuna revolt worked ,they were not average people .

Aani,
If we had been smart enough JR could not have out maneuvered us:))

Who are 'WE'? Are we
1. SWRD?
2. People as a whole?
3. Buddhist majority?

The majority goes with the wind.

68% of Americans supported President Bush's invasion of Iraq.

Body bags turned this 68% to 70% against Bush's strategy.

78% support President Rajapakse's war on terrorism and when things go bad may be 70% will abandon him.

We must do what's right and not what is popular or hegemonic? Because a lot of people like to support the 'hero' of the day like in films than the one who stands for justice, peace and equality.

A 500 MW power plant in Sampur is expected to come up with Indian help. Still, an enormous lot remains to be done.

Facts produced by the GOSL say that the plant is to be at Veloor and not Sampur. This must then be old news

Just for reading...
COLOMBO: The international election monitoring group, the Association of Asian Election Authorities (AAEA), called the May 10 polls in East as one of the best behaved and effectively conducted elections they had ever witnessed.

Releasing their observation report on the polls yesterday, the AAEA said that the elections were totally free and fair and that they had not encountered a single untoward incident during their monitoring process.

The AAEA comprised 17 members from 10 Asian countries, with the team including eminent personalities in their respective countries including several elections commissioners in their ranks, who had a thorough experience in international election observations.
