LTTE Love to blow up pregnent women
The Tigers had earlier devised improvised limpet mines that can be magnetically attached to a ships hull. yesterday's explosions seem to have come from at least one simultaneous and significant blast underneath the submerged hull of A-520. In that case, limpet mines seem unlikely. It is now believed that explosives strapped to human 'torpedoes' may have been detonated in an underwater-demolition (UDT) type of an attack.
This type of attack is not uncommon. In fact, it had been used several times against immobile vessels, specially around Trincomalee at least one previous occasion. The remains of a female frogwoman who blew-up a gunboat moored at Trincomalee harbour in the 1990s is still on display at the Trincomalee Naval Museum. The woman, four months pregnant at the time, had clung onto the hull of the gunboat and detonated explosives strapped on to her.

Why Eastern tamils did not Vote at all to the PEOPLE'S FRONT OF LIBERATION TIGERS ?
All the peelamists will scream that the votes were rigged. May be they were but I know a lot of tamils who are absolutely fed up with the blood-bath and violence.
Remember though.. there will be no vote possible in the Vanni and the north as long as LTTE is there. Either the LTTE has to realize that and disarm and dissolve or GoSL will have to wait for a long time to them to go out of steam. To try to force them out militarily is next to impossible.

IF the NEWLY appointed NORTHERN TASK FORCE can make some economic changes in the lives of NORTHEN TAMILS, that will help LTTE Cadres QUIT their killing lives.
The meaning of the CFA was also that.
So, That Task force do some work fast.

Yes Sir. The key is somehow to improve the lives of northern tamils. LTTE and our Terra's here and elsewhere in the world will oppose that heavily. They will do all kind of things to provoke the forces to keep the violence high.
The meaning of the CFA was also that.
But the LTTE had other ideas. They will always be just that. That is why it is going to take a real long time to bring lasting peace to SL. There is no quick fix. If the GoSL goese for a quick fix, that will be very unwise.
Hey Andy
Over the weekend ?? Can't stay off this eh? I saw you last night but had no time to get involved. No news from Baka. Did you see him here on the W/E ?

gons there is no strategy other than the current one . To blockade slowly weaken them and attack when the time is right. To expect the LTTE to want peace is to not have learnt lessons form the past.
Baks was there for a while . We had some fun with WRH . Then he said he was in a remote area and it would cost too much and dropped off. I dont know if he is on a blackberry or something . Edited By - andyprem - 12 May 2008 14:36:13 GMT |

Andy,

Yep. That is why there is no peace possible with LTTE roaming around. We both agree on that. Where we seem to disagree is where I believe that LTTE can not be defeated militarily without a text-book genocide against the Tamils and others seem to think it is possible. I am not saying LTTE is superior to the SLDF's, but that they will use pretty unconventional tactics to stay alive including sacrificing civilians (because they are barbarians).
When that happens, regardless of the intensions of the SLDF the racial hatred grows and then everyone gets blinded by it and LTTE will get stronger.
We should not fall into that trap again.
