Fact is the groups that carried out the attacks on Muslims were led by Karuna. Pillayan was also possibly involved in the killings.

its nice to see a WETAMIL terrorist stooge acknowledging the killings of muslims by the barbaric LTTE by th order of the cannibal Praba!

The real loser at Saturday's election was Velupillai Prabhakaran. Easterners have routed his separatist project by electing a group of representatives independent of the LTTE to run their province which is the be-all and end-all of Eelam.

The UNP-SLMC combine turned that election into a referendum on the North-East merger and the politico-military strategy of the government. The government which had cleared the East of the LTTE and effected the de-merger secured about 52 per cent of the total number of valid votes, thus winning that 'referendum'. The SLMC let the cat of South-Eastern Council out of the bag and that, too, was rejected lock stock and barrel by the people.

The election turned out to be a contest between the government and a collective of other powerful players the UNP, the SLMC and the LTTE/TNA combine. The LTTE, through its proxy alliance, ordered the Easterners to defeat the government on the eve of the election. But, even the Eastern Tamils whom he claims to represent defied that order. In fact, they overwhelmingly supported the UPFA-TMVP coalition, which obtained more than 58 per cent of the total number of valid votes in Batticaloa with a heavy Tamil presence.

The JVP which sought to eat into the UPFA vote bank had a pratfall. It got only one seat, which was more an accident under the PR system than an achievement as such

Relax pal. Did I say that Muslims did NOT vote for the govt?

Don't forget that there was widespread intimidation and violence by Pillayan group particularly. Ameer Ali also has his goons who attacked the SLMC supporters.

It is still early days to know the extent of the violence and rigging.

FYI I have no respect for the LTTE. That doesn't mean I blindly support GOSL. I am against all Racism whether from the Sinhalese, Tamils or Muslims. I am a Sri Lankan first and last. If you read my posts, you will realise.

You carry a name which sounds Muslim. But who knows, you could very well be a Sinhala Racist going by your reaction.

how come you conventionally forgot the intimidation by ampara bomb and shellings in ampara and trinco which resulted in less voter turner outs specially in ampara which would have gone for govt. if you dont support ltte how come you r against this victory of the government where ltte through tna openly stated to vote for UNP to defeat govt?
and FYI only killings that were reported in this in this election were two tmvp guys by your cannibal gang..what a joker!

Daily Mirror

2008-05-12 2.10pm] An unidentified gang has assaulted two election monitors of the Campaign for Free and Fair Elections (CAFFE) last night (May 11th) in Trincomalee.

Speaking to Lanka Dissent , Media Co-ordinator CAFFE, Keerthi Tennakoon said the victims were posted to monitor polling activities in the Trincomalee district.

Refusing to reveal details of these victims for reasons of safety, Mr. Tennakoon said that the prevailing situation, does not allow even a complaint to be lodged with the police or for an injured to be taken to hospital.

The two injured CAFFE members he said, were treated by a private medical doctor.

Condemning the incident, the CAFFE media co-ordinator said that a spate of post - election violence is seen in the East, especially in Batticaloa.
