New judicial system for East

A new judicial system will be in place for the eastern province within one month of its new administration assuming office, Chief Justice Sarath N. Silva has said.
In an interview with 'Irida Lankadeepa', the CJ said new Kathi Courts, High Courts, Magistrate's Courts and Civil Appeal Courts would come up in the east.
Accordingly, Batticaloa will have a new Civil Appeal Court, while Kalmunai gets a High Court as well as a Civil Appeal Court.
A Magistrate's Court for Potuvil is also included in the plans.
Kalmunai will also get a Kathi Court to hear marriage, divorce and alimony cases of Muslims in the area, the CJ added.
