LTTE's aim is to prevent the GOSL capturing Vanni two clear objectives!!

Robs it should never have come to this. The bigger chandiya wins!

The rights of a people should never be dependent on the military fortunes of a militant organisation.

VP gambled by helping elect MR. Then he started the war without adequate air defences. He did not have information about the laser guided bombs that GOSL possessed.

The Karuna split occured because LTTE was essentially a military one man show. If the people of east had been politically 'pro LTTE' and LTTE was a democratic grass root level organisation, one man leaving would not have left the organisation so debilitated.

And the effects of Karuna split wetre underestimated.

Furthermore VP antagonised European monitors and asked them to leave. He antagonised the Eastern muslims by the mosque massacres. He antagonised the Southern Sinhalese by civilian bombings, effectively shutting up any antiwar murmurings. He antagonised India by Rajiv's murder.

Now we are reduced to applauding sporadic military victories here and there. Life is not about military victories. If we want to watch gladiator-like sport we can watch 20/20, not real war.

As Eelamaya pointed out some time ago, if the CEO of a company committed so many blunders he will be held accountable by the Board of Directors. But here there is no Board, no Judge, no Jury.

I have never made a secret of my opinion on the Junta. But blindly supporting LTTE will only lead to further disaster.

Looks like tigers dont have to fight with troops in jaffna,
if they start blowing the ships no supply will reach. Withdraw without fight:))
Running will increase...

Hope you don't mind me jutting in mate, I get your point and a well made one it is. My only point is that while the LTTE has many faults, the first thing we need is to ensure our survival as a nation and a people, given the attitude of the Sinhala state our only option is to stop them from occupying more of our land and making the war against Tamils untenable. Once we are past that stage we can begin to shape our political landscape.

Read over the ISGA again which came from the LTTE, it is a good document and we must hold them to it as a first step. So we don't have the luxury of correcting the faults in the LTTE for now.

Aani,

RW would have screwed us without us even knowing it. it was the UNP which engineered the karuna split. atleast now the world is a little aware of the issues at hand although we have paid a big price in civilian deaths.

The Karuna split occured because LTTE was essentially a military one man show. If the people of east had been politically 'pro LTTE' and LTTE was a democratic grass root level organisation, one man leaving would not have left the organisation so debilitated.

batti was essentially run by karuna. thats the mistake VP made. all other regions are differerent folks running it. Poltical head, military head, finance head for the region reporting to the Tamilchelvan in the case of poltical and so on.

nothing comes on a silver platter. you make mistakes along the way no doubt but we have to learn and move along.
we have passed the point of no return
. we dont have many options left.

i doubt that would be possible BUT...in the event that it happens...i mean IF the tigers are able to cut supplies from reaching the north...then jaffna would fall without a bullet being fired!
