Ok here goes, i bet this was not in the TAMILnut, so doubt the looser have seen it
Chief Minister of Tamilnadu M. Karunanidhi, addressing the State Assembly of Tamilnadu recently announced a surprising turn-around in political convictions, stating Tamil Eelam is the dream of the LTTE and it will never be a reality .
Karunanidhi, in the course of his statement, recalled with grief the brutal assassination of his friend and TULF leader, Appapillai Amirthalingam.
The Chief Minister was speaking on several pro-LTTE resolutions moved by pro-LTTE Pattali Makkal party leader Gnakoon Sudarshan. The resolution requested the Indian Central government to exert pressure on the Sri Lanka Government to stop the Wanni military operations against the Tigers forthwith.
The Chief Minster explained that the military operations against the LTTE is not a war against the Tamil people. The Tamilnadu Congress leader Gnasekaran and Hasan Ali opposed the resolution and voiced their support to the Chief Ministers stance

There were many women who had long passed the age of 30, but still remained as spinsters.

There are many more war widows than overaged spinsters in Sri Lanka.!!

*Widows driven into prostitution*

TamilNet, October 26, 1998 14:36 GMT

A guest house in Orr's Hill, a suburb of Trincomalee town, was surrounded last night by angry locals who called the Police to raid the premises, said sources. The residents alleged that the guest house was operating as a brothel at night, they said.

The Police arrested several women whom they suspected to be prostitutes (prostitution is illegal in Sri Lanka).

Among these, were two young Tamil widows who had been brought to the 'guest house' from remote villages in Mutur, south of Trincomalee.

Police sources said that a group of thugs and pimps in Trincomalee town are preying on the increasing number of widows in the villages of this eastern district.

In an interesting co-incidence, Mr.S Suntharalingam, the manager of 'Anpu Illam', a Trincomalee orphanage, who gave evidence before the 'Fact-finding Citizens'

These war widows are a legacy of this country's struggle against separatism! That legacy is far more formidable than the Spinsters of the Eelam Dream land... waste of good meow in my opinion.

See, I really don't care. These women choose to go there and work, majority of them do make it. Raise kids, build homes, educate the children and do come back with some savings. So really, few meeting a few bad fates is not a problem.

Moby, there are many other stories not coming out!
While the wife working in the middle east, husband waste the money on liquor, marry another one or adultration with wife's sister, so.. on. If we do a survey, I doubt whether even a 40 % of the total housemaid achieved some significant progress after return to SL.!!
