For the Benefit of those guys who express satisfaction abt Mahinda, i post the message again.

This price rise is not due to war but to the incompetent policies of Mahinda.

Inflation at 30% is like robbing the poor by the state !

Sri Lanka s Colombo Consumer Price Index New (CCPI (N)) accelerated further to a four year high, for the month of April. The index number increased by 3.5 index points in comparison to its figure for the month of March which was at 191.9 index points. Price increases in food, electricity, clothing and miscellaneous items continue to be the contributing factors for this increase with food reflecting the largest contributor to the increase. Adverse weather patterns which contributed to short supply of selected domestic agriculture products, seasonal demand during the first two weeks of April and high international prices have resulted in increases in food prices.

Meanwhile the CCPI old increased to an all time high of 29.9% and 20.00% on the point to point and moving average respectively.

The graph below illustrates the movement of the point to point and moving average for the past four years.

Australia to apply Stronger Sanctions against Tamil Tiger Terrorism - Sydney, (Asiantribune.com): The International isolation of the LTTE may eventually force it to abandon its campaign of terror and return to the negotiating table. It also would send a message to all terrorist organisations that Australia rejects terrorism in all its forms, and that it applies the same uniform standard when dealing with terrorist groups across the world. Dr Dasarath Jayasuriya, President of Society for Peace, Unity and Human Rights for Sri Lanka, writing to the Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs Stephen Smith and Attorney General Robert McClelland appeals the Australian government to impose further sanctions on the LTTE and its front-organisations by listing them under the Australian Criminal Code Act of 1995, until it has given up terrorism in word and deed.

Read the INteresting analysis from COl Hariharan who was the intelligence Chief of IPKF in srilanka.

His wordings make it clear the LTTE is not a spent force & it is a stalemate on the War Front. He was one of the guys in india who secretly wanted LTTE to be decimated. Yet he has to come to this view.

its adroit President Rajapaksa by now must have understood that the end of the tunnel was still not visible despite the huge cost of lives resources paid in the war so far. It should be equally clear that a fresh political initiative with India at the helm could possibly be a better way of resolving the issue. If nothing else, it would save a few billion dollars down the drain and a few thousand lives, while presenting a possibility of success, than pursuing a purely military option.
