Unidentified gunmen shot and killed a former medical student of Jaffna University from Pottpathi Veethi, Kokkuvil, in Jaffna at his house on Tuesday around 7:00 p.m, sources in Jaffna said. The victim is alleged to have been working for the Intelligence Unit of Sri Lanka Army (SLA), and said to have collaborated in the killings, and abductions in Jaffna peninsula, the sources added.

The former medical student killed was identified as Gunaratnam Suhantheepan.

Suhantheepan had earlier worked for the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).

What a damage to Tamil investment in Higher Education. Ultimately the Government is answerable unless it devolves power in areas where Tamils have demonstrated equal or greater strength than the government. That is the basis of democracy.

Who is doing this allegation?
I think, its LTTE, telling like this.
Did they kill him, instead of correcting him..?
Its a repetition of old LTTE records I guess.

Tamils have demonstrated equal or greater strength than the government

Woken up from the wrong side of the bed? Anyway, can you please elaborate what these strengths are?, as I cannot identify any at this moment.

Yet I can clearly observe the weakness that they (Tamils) are more than capable of killing and discrimination along the fault lines of caste and region based politics.

Where you do not know with fair certainty, it is important not to use your intellect but to have the experience with the victim. That will protect you from inappropriate use of your intellectual thinking which can hurt Tamils to whom this is a definite loss - whoever might have caused it. Right now it does not matter as much as to who caused it. What we need is how to prevent such deaths. What contribution does your side have to offer towards such prevention?

Generally, say, valuable people like this student should avoid both LTTE or SLA relations. I agree, these young people are gems for Tamil community.

But, in a war situation, both LTTE and SLA are approaching to these people making hard for them to avoid.

Here, LTTE has a big responsibility to protect Tamils those they think became SLA spy, since ultimately, Tamils are important to Jaffna. I dont know what sort of program they have neutralize such people, other than killing.

Sansare,

You have missed the point. I ask you what YOU can do and not what LTTE can do. LTTE is our responsibility and we will diffuse their weaknesses through our strengths. I was asking about YOUR side in recognition that we are divided. That is democratic respect.

Gaja,
You have missed the point.

Sorry, but I dont see that GOSL (remember I am not representing it....ha ha..), has little to do to protect Tamils from LTTE in Tamil areas. The best way is not approaching to them for spy works.

But, that is against the generally practices of war.
We know, LTTE buy a lot of Sinhalese in Colombo too.
(News says police found Piliyandala bomb suspects with the house where bomb kept for 2 weeks, one is Tamil, 2 are sinhalese I think).

But, GOSL has a lot to do for the protection of Tamils in south. At least, its good we dont see wide level of incidents like 83 now.

But, UNP and JVP has a bigger hand to push matters at the Parliament about the security of Tamils in south. They are not doing that well I think.

Too early to come to a conclusion, be patient till the war is over. Once we eliminate the last Tamil LTTE tiger and LTTE supporter can consider on devolution of power, still, as you said, on strength basis.

As you know right at the moment we are in war.

We are in a juncture that we can't turn round or deviate. So we have to wait till the war is over.
My personal view is wait till we kill VP.

This guy seems to be a double agent.

If we killed him then these idiots would clamor saying innocent Tamil been killed.
Now what?
