Sri Lanka Army captures 18-base area

Soon after military offensives commenced northwest of Giant Tank, Mannar, troops engaged in an effective assault on the LTTE`s 18-Base in Veppankulam and Kallikulam areas and brought the entire area under their control.
At least 40 Tigers perished in the offensive on the 18-Base, the Media Centre for National Security said. Six soldiers who sustained injuries in the operation were airlifted to hospitals.
Two MI-24 fighter craft providing aerial cover to the ground troops bombed two LTTE gun positions in Karukkakulam and Chalampaikulam areas, ahead of the troop lines.
A number of LTTE cadres were killed and 18 others injured when Security Forces launched a fresh offensive in the Mannar battle front yesterday morning, Military sources said. The Security Forces launched another attack pre-emptive towards the LTTE defence lines in general areas of Parayakulam, Karukkakulam and Kattankulam.

There is no independant way of verifying whether in fact it has been captured or not. Govt and the tigers are both known to fabricate stories for personal gain!

Since the beginning of this war sri lankan troops have captured 1800 bases belongs to LTTE delta force.
However, the remaining bases estimated nearly 2300 bases can not be easily captured by these poor empty stomach sinhalese forces |

Please remove the insulting racist remarks made by LankanPuit to Gaja Laxmi addressing her as 'Demala Hu...' Suggest not to tolerate him and this type of remarks any more.

But I ask you once again to reflect on those youth who were under 20 years of age who laid down their lives at Muhamalai whose lives have been robbed....... We are still not aware of the count whether it be 16 or 93 or 103
Don't they deserve their youth ????????
I feel remorse for them as well as those young lives of the servicemen BUT this should me more of a concern for the overseas tamil doaspora as they fund the ltte.
Time and time again I have said people are using the ltte as means of a vehicle for their betterment & you have admmitted to this fact.
Life is tooooo short for all these Grand Ma.......
