COLOMBO, Sri Lanka - Sri Lanka`s military says fierce clashes have erupted after its soldiers entered a key Tamil Tiger rebel base in the island`s embattled north.

A military statement says at least 40 insurgents have been killed so far in the fight for the control of `18 Base` in northern Mannar district. Rebel spokesman Rasiah Ilanthirayan was not immediately available for comment.

Don't worry your pretty little head. Now go back to sleep and keep dreaming of Eelam.

Everything will be OK when you wake up. All is well in Eelam.

good one. yes this was the second time SLA fell in to the trap. SLA will not be able to come down from Mahamuai as if they do LTTE will loose the micro ELAM in no time. So they will defend it with all might.

Once terrorism is eliminated from Sri lanka may be you can also come to Sri lanka one day

Latest score from AFP..

The latest skirmishes pushed total casualty figures to 3,185 Tigers killed by security forces since the start of this year, according to the defence ministry. The military admits losing 232 soldiers over the same period.

3,185-3,000= 185 women and their babies were killed. Today 40 women and babies with feeding bottles were killed in 18 base.

Cover your eyes and keep counting, Tigress.

Eelam is so near, I can smell it. (Or then again it could be the toilets blocked again)

Srimal Malli

Can you explain to me something? why do Military statement sometimes call The LTTE as LTTE cadres, sometimes Terrorists and some times insurgents..?

As we all know recently SLA lost a lot of soldiers and sometimes there is pressure from the Top rank to go on a quick attack..something like a revenge attack..it is easy to get trapped since LTTE will anticipate such attacks..so they got to be careful.

Once terrorism is eliminated from Sri lanka may be you can also come to Sri lanka one day

I would love to go back soon..That is my country..
