DVLADV,
The current generation are only tenants and will only invest when there is assurance that the risks and rewards of ownership will be transferred
To my mind, when that assurance is needed, we are at business level. Ownership means we work without that expectation of reward at material level - but because it is our home - just like cleaning our home.

Gaja,
It is true that there are still 16% of Sinhalese who are working in the way you describe.

People do not get leaders they want but leaders thay deserve. Punnakku eating nation needs a leader like him.
This includes the terrorist leader too.Try not to forget this!
If Ranil had worked harder and brought better results with
a prefect agenda for the people before the elections even
Velu would have supported him if it was for Peace. But unfortunately Velu wanted to embarass the GOSL forces because he had all what he wanted to face the GOSL and
thought he could get the whole island. Now he is getting
left right and centre and the diaspora is doing a jig
everytime the foreces get whacked. As for the LTTE casulties, we trust the tamiltnuut gave the correct numbers as the always divide the number by three when
GOSL mutiplies by three.

DVLADV,
Then why do we have servants?
For the same reason why we have cleaners in an organisation. The only discrimination that we are allowed is on the basis of the work that is allocated to them. Beyond that they are family. Some treat servants / employees as family whilst others as dependents and in worst cases as slaves - which is not so much these days.

It obviously was not as perfect as it might have seemed. The perfect solution would come from within - especially from the victims.

Gaja,
I don't know. I think mistakes made by Tamils have also contributed to the terrible situation facing Sri Lanka. But the majority community has a greater responsibility to put things right, because they have the power of government.

What happens when they do not - for whatever reason? Do we forge ahead and do more ownership work or do we give up? I choose the former. I believe that in the end Natural Justice does balance - at the individual as well as collective level. We fail to see the balancing because we often cling to one particular outcome.

3100 Million rupeese of ETF/EPF money of poor vanishes. Kauda Hora?
Yet, when the election comes people will vote for them. Amidst all this mayhem our Royal Opposition is sleeping. They must take half the blame! |

Gaja,
I think I agree with you here, although I may put it in different words. What I believe is that every human being shares in the responsibility for the future of the human race. When we write certain things on this forum, many people may insult us, but if it can change the mind of even one person, and convince him of the absolute need for non-violence, I think that is worthwhile.
