General Sarath Fonseka need not be reminded that it was not Janaka Perera who, when the LTTE attacked Elephant Pass in 2000, was stationed in Jaffna and radioed Colombo desperately seeking a Navy Dvora to rush him safely home.
as per sunday leader
OH really? ha ha ha ha

It seem you happy to see he ran away in 2000.
But, I am sure, you are much happier today, if he didn't run that day..!
Lol..!

The army commander seems to be having an identity crisis if he thinks General Perera would sing the LTTE tune. General Sarath Fonseka need not be reminded that it was not Janaka Perera who, when the LTTE attacked Elephant Pass in 2000, was stationed in Jaffna and radioed Colombo desperately seeking a Navy Dvora to rush him safely home

No he did not run but he had his plane ready.
He did not come to the front even when his men were being clobbered.
And where was he at 5.30am while him men were slaughtered.( sleeping on his bed with his wife who has a 40Million dollar car.)

I dont know well about Fonseka's character.
But, if we only talk with what went in last few years, after 2000, LTTE gave a big try to kill him.
Missed..!
Now, he is making things bit hard for LTTE I think.
But, I am sure, LTTE will continue its try..!

India DID NOT send its forces to assist the Sri Lankan Government in its fight against separatism. Instead, they forcefully entered Sri Lanka to create a seperate state for Eelamists (and thanks to super intelligent Prabhakaran, it never materialized). However, we should tolerate raising a memorial for those IPKF soldiers died in action (who, in theory, came here to set up an Eelam) since those soldiers hardly had anything to do with the decisions made by those Indian politicians like the 'innocent father' of Priyanka Gandhi.
Let me excerpt a passage from Broken Palmyra in this connection to advert the mentality of those IPKF soldiers who died fighting someone elses war.
In the light of what happened later, it may be well to reflect here on the feelings of Indian soldiers. Most of the latter were from very poor backgrounds. When they arrived in Ceylon, they had a vague idea that they had come to protect Tamils from the Sri Lankan army. They had also expected to see a pitifully downtrodden population. But what they saw in Jaffna was contrary to expectations. There was little to do in the way of protecting Tamils. After the Accord, the Sri Lankan army were only too happy to behave themselves. Instead of uniform unrelieved, poverty, there was a fairly large well-to-do middle-class. Most people dressed well and lived in reasonable comfort. Unlike in India where each village may have just one television set, every other home in Jaffna had colour television. Shops were stocked with modern Japanese goods. Most homes had their wells, their water sealed lavatories and electricity supply as a bare minimum. They wondered why the Indian government had made such a fussabout Jaffna. (Chap 9, Broken Palmyra)

Mucho,
India DID NOT send its forces to assist the Sri Lankan Government in its fight against separatism. Instead, they forcefully entered Sri Lanka to create a seperate state for Eelamists (and thanks to super intelligent Prabhakaran, it never materialized).
JRJ, out smarted the smartass Rajeev. Amrithalinkam built up one of the cosiest Tamil relations with an Indian leader ever, when he hoodwinked Rajeev.
Rajeev being stupid, took the bait and started pestering us Sri Lankans. He threatned JRJ and JRJ responede with one of the smartest political moves... when Rajeev's IPKF in well inside Sri Lanka, JRJ pulled the rug by taking captured LTTE operatives to Colombo.
Masayan Velu acted as JRJ predicted and from that date, the fight was between IPKF and Velu's Tamils. SLA were just obserevers in the grand stand!
In subsequent events, Velu the madayan killed both Rajeev and Amirthalinkam. Should those leaders were spared, North and East of Sri Lanka is a separte country today!
