IIGEP backtracks on 'political will' statement

COLOMBO: Justice P.N. Bhagwati, Chairman of the International Independent Group of Eminent Persons (IIGEP) has written to President Mahinda Rajapaksa stating that it has not accused the Sri Lankan Government for lack of a political will or alleged that there was an absence of political will, Human Rights and Disaster Management Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe said.
Addressing a special press briefing at his office, Minister Samarasinghe said a lot of time and resources could have been saved if the IIGEP admitted this before it addressed the media and held their discussion with the President. 'But we wish to thank the IIGEP for admitting it even after taking a long time.'
Minister Samarasinghe said the stand of the IIGEP has completely changed now. It had admitted that it has no doubt that Commission Of Inquiry (C.O.I) will continue to carry on its work with the same zeal and dedication as it has been doing so far.
Bhagwati has also stated in his letter to the President that the IIGEP of course could not voice anything more than a mere apprehension of an absence of political will because it was not within their jurisdiction to find whether there was absence of political will on the part of the Government or not.
Minister Samarasinghe pointed out that it was President Rajapaksa who invited the IIGEP to observe the functions of the Commission Of Inquiry (COI) and if there was no political will the President would not have invited the IIGEP.

Wake-up the Piliyandala bombing is like the Nugegoda bomb. It was a GOSL inside job or JVP. Too bad you guys don't have the ability or the knowledge nor do you want to give an international agency to solve it. So your going to have it in the future and just keep blaming the LTTE.
Do you mean to say the 45 million robbery was also LTTE. Read the writing on the wall: JVP is going to raise its ugly head.
And you should also give this advice to GOSl and start practising it by going after LTTE and not innocent Tamils.
