Neutral people get abused the most. Look even in LNP, those with a neutral stand get more stick than those with a polarised view of the opposite side. Neutrals are viewed as being indecisive, but I dont have problems with them.
Taking a side but a moderate approach is the best way I find.

So the Tamils have to take LTTE side... except those who were immediate family members of the so called Traitors killed by LTTE.... |

In fact nothing about this war is happy thing to be celebrated. All thouse who died were born in that beautiful island.
You are lucky man.
Sad thing though is that SLA does not seem to have learned anything for the last 30 years.
What if you change SLA to LTTE? have they learned anything but the bankruptcy. |

Sri Lanka is a strange place.. Despite how many SLA deaths, they still hold on to Jaffna!!
Honestly I am not familiar: so tell me something. Is Jaffna strategically important? Why?

If LTTe achieve anything using the gun, it will be an extremely bad example for the country.
You seem to defy the universal experience of achieving peace by negotiations.
LTTE and other groups took up arms ONLY because the successive govts signed agreements (BC- and SC- Pacts) with the minority democratic leaders only to be sabotaged by the then Opposition Parties and the Buddhist clergy.
You being a moderate should not take the view that the majority wins if it's a 'head' and the minorities lose if 'tail'.
IRA used guns against British forces. The British H Commissioner explained recently that by negotiations they achieved peace and prevented blood shed.
This is what the US presidential hopefuls and the new PM of Pakistan say they are going to do. |

As I told you earlier, Sri Lanka is a strange place..
Those Kurakkan boys got a job and a position in their community just because they joined the defence forces... Otherwise they will never have a job (unlike Tamils, most Sinhala people were less-educated and jobless)...
Most of the developed countries see their your wasted to drugs and gang violence..
Living in UK, you must know what Hoodies do there... (and all Tamil immigrants will be living in council flats with hoodies.. :))
They will die in street fights and gang violence. The use alcohol and drugs to waste themselves and fade in to thing air...Our youth go to Army and die. They get a better social status and Their families get a pension.
If you try in the www. you could find papers written by ecomomists describing how the poor villagers in boarder villages in Sri Lanka LOVE the war and thrive in that!
One may find I am so cruel in this post. However the simple Truth is humans are basically animals and need to fight with each other time to time..
If you do not agree that we need to fight time to time, just think how many times you got mad with your wife (I am sure she is a Tamil woman) and how many Tamil men married to Tamil woman apply for divorce...
we have our share of menace with you guys..
if LTTE is not there, SLA will be fighting with JVP sinhala boys...
therefore I think the current arrangement is better!
