In the video from puthinam.com the guy is saying that they are happy cos not only did they beat back the advance but they also got a load of weapons....pointing to the rifle he is carrying....

..
and their commander is saying that they shot a lot of the soldiers while they were advancing then after the soldiers took the trenches they called in accurate arty fire...and shot some more when the soldiers were retreating...

The real lion-hearts of the SLDF are emblem of bravery and resilience whose valour and courage are epitomised each time they defend their little island against brutal LTTE terrorists.

Their sacrifice teaches us to stand firm against Indian hegemony, violent insurgency and neo-colonial interference in its all forms.

The ideal role model for any nation.

^^ no pun intended? ???
why do i feel as if you took those words right off the friendly neighborhood communist's little red book?

Gonnamba,
Do you have a brain bigger than a peanut?
Yes - they are for peace
No - they should be sent to the front as cannon-fodder

Those whose brain is of peanut size are at the helm making decisions as to peace or war. The poor from both communities die because the decision makers have their agenda irrespective of the damage to the country, sufferings or loss of lives.

as you said the LTTE have nothing to lose and everything to gain. and the SLA trooper has everything to lose and nothing (on a personal level) to gain.

The Defense sources admitted the facts as printed by Tamilnet to CNN.

More than 100 Sri Lankan soldiers were killed and another 400 wounded Wednesday when troops attempted to advance toward a stronghold of the Tamil Tigers rebel organization, highly placed army sources told CNN.

In addition the source also admitted to 30 soldiers went missing.

An identified spokesman hinted at army rebellion against the generals for pushing them into the death trap laid by LTTE.

Better way to describe brave soldiers who sacrifice their life for others. Not all the SL soldiers are fighting because of the money as some says here in LNP. I had met many young soldiers who truly care about their country and who didn't mind going to the war to protect others.

Everyone has a choice.. unfortunately everyone has been making the wrong choice for the past 30 years.
