Sri Lankans may look at their purse and graveyards one day and may wonder why things went that bad. Children will ask, why ? And today's generation will blame it all on VP and MR. Of course no one will admit to have been pro LTTE or GOSL.
I doubt that SriLankans will ever realize that.. May be like you said after 400 years. Right now, most of them are just walking zombies with no hope, high on Punnakku fed either by MR or VP (who has taken them hostage).. bent on annihilation of each other.

No one really wants resolution.
Thats because both parties have set the objective as winning which is a unrealistic objective for the population as if one is to win the other has to lose so either party will not want to lose.
If the objective is set as co-existence as a distinct society in one country or separate state the vocal Sinhalese and Monks will not allow it. Even Tamil civilians not involved in the conflict will not want to walk away after all this sacrifice without having the ability to dictate their own destiny.
SO WHAT ARE THE OPTIONS AVAILABLE? |

Address yourself to the GOSL always dominated by S supremacists. It is not what LTTE wants is important but what the GOSL has offered as the solution.
LTTE did accept the Federal model with autonomy as THE solution. No self respecting Tamil or Muslim will accept anything that guarantees hegemony of the GOVT dominated by the supreme race as a solution.
Any solution must ensure that minority communities elect their leaders and de-elect them and not Sinhala elitist leaders who are vested with powers to
1. dissolve or sack the devolved unit and
2. control and manipulate the finance of that unit.
That means there is no colonialism of the supreme race but the democracy of the minorities.

| That is what I mean, it is easier for me than for SL to look at the matter, because I am not in the middle of it. But it is no use to keep talking about it, you will end up like what mr freedom1 said. Happens everywhere in the world were they keep fighting. I know it is dangerous to get into politics in SL, but it is the only way, someone with guts has to stand up and make the right decissions. My opinion is that the underworld is ruling the country and it will not be long before they are in governement and personally I think that is more of a threat than the LTTE. |

This is Typical GON argument.
IF this is the case, 54% of tamils living in the South should be involved in fighting.
Then tamils would not keep on expanding into the South where Sinhala people are dominating.
All the Jaffna tamils would leave to Wanni and would start living there.
Tamils Living in TAmilNAdu would not come back to South but not to the North.
People have Caught the tail of LTTE - Propaganda and talk.
