LTTE lost for sure.

This is what surprises me. Based on GOSL numbers there ain't many LTTE. Based on their intelligence they have destroyed all the arms warehouses at sea, using SL and Indian Navy blocked all incoming shipment. How did they even manage to put an offensive?
Has the south been fooling to itself so long that they have started to believe their own lie and now facing surprises?

If LTTE had either the manpower or the firepower as that of the SLA, this war would've over a long time ago.

The fact remains even while outnumbering the LTTE over 20-1 and having incomparably superior weapons, the SLA still has failed to make a dent on the LTTE's defence formations in the north!

LTTE even has weather controlled weapons and lightning powered weapons and a lot more we are not going to tell you.
WE TAMILS unlike the SLA do not reveal our plans before the attack

It s a mystery for me that with so developed Proud LTTE army can t make Peelam yet. Where is the problem. Please don t post with 'Just wait and see. ' I m fep up with that.

i have 2 possible scenarios

1 ltte has a Huge number of arty rounds!
2 the 'heavy arty barrage' the Sla claimed ltte use to beat them back was more like a 'targeted' use of arty

i tend to favour the second choice. but even then im sure the ltte has more ammo than the sla credits it with

i too am intrigued as to how the LTTE is able to use arty in such a manner. or maybe that they use it sparingly and not in the 'fire away till kingdom come' manner the SLA does?

we have to take the 'LTTE heavy arty barrage' claim by the SLA with a pinch of salt. its a known fact that the SLA arty power is maybe 10 times or more that of the LTTE. so how in heavens name can they call it 'heavy barrage' and use it as an excuse?....

cos im sure arty used in conjunction with good FO would be much more effective than arty fired for the sake of firing.

the spray-and-pray method is a waste

Velir,

I agree that the LTTE appear to have directed their artillery much more effectively, presumably using spotters on the ground. SLA would have the advantage of spotters on fixed wing planes and helicopters. If the SLA has in fact failed miserably (We can't be absolutely sure of that at this moment in time), then the SLA officer corps is utter rubbish. Is the Navy/Army not capable of an amphibious assault?

I think so. IPKF would have come for a second time.
